Pertinent info: massive old top loader, Tide powder detergent, regularish water, wash routine is rinse, wash/rinse, rinse

When I wash my diapers every 3 days, I use the medium level water setting and 2T. detergent with a regular wash routine. When I wash EOD, i can use the small water setting, but if I even use 1/2T. of detergent I have so many extra suds I need to two at least two more hot wash cycles. Should I use LESS detergent than 1/2T? That seems crazy.

My guess is that the smaller water setting isn't enough to rinse out even a small amount of detergent. Can you change the water setting after the wash and before the rinses? I would imagine that if you reduced detergent too much more your diapers wouldn't be getting clean.

Add a towel to the wash/rinse cycle to put the level the same?

Have you checked the water level when it's actually full? I only say this because I don't think my old machine actually adjusts the water level. Maybe yours puts too little in?

Your measuring spoons must be broken. Throw them out and use Cascade pods.

Could it just be the perception of the bubbles? Like the amount of bubbles in both medium and small are the same, but it looks like more in the small? I don't know
