Did your doctor identify that you were having a big baby before you gave birth?
My boy was almost 10 lbs and after I had him a lot of the hospital staff asked if i knew he was on the big side, which I realty didn't. The pedi was surprised I didn't have GD, producing a baby that big.
My doctor was not on call this weekend when I had him, so he stopped by yesterday and checked on me and everything. Then he came back this morning and said "I didn't realize the size of the baby when I checked in yesterday. You were measuring on track". He seemed apologetic, I think.
I'm just wondering how typical it is for doctor's to identify that before you give birth. I mean, everything went great and it was a vaginal birth and everything. But I was 39 weeks - it's scary to think what he would have been if I went a week over like I told my doctor I was willing to. I'm guessing if they identified how big he was, they would have definitely suggested an induction in the near future..?
Re: For those that had big babies...
This baby is measuring even bigger and will likely top 10 lb even though she'll be here a week early. We'll see in 2 days how close the tech was on this one.
My blood sugars are normal and I've even been watching my diet (only gained 12 lb) and exercising. Big babies just run in my family and DH's.
DS: 11/8/11 | 9 lb 7 oz, 22 in
DD: 5/22/14 | 9 lb 9 oz, 21.5 in
One dr did mention how tiny I am everywhere else and that I'm measuring normal. She said it looks like I'm all baby and he may be a big one. Not sure yet since he's not here yet.
