Stomach sleepers

Hey ladies, for those who have LO that can roll over now and are doing that in bed to end up on their stomachs, how have you found it to affect their sleep?  Do they sleep better/longer now?  My LO was honestly doing pretty well in the overnight sleep department, but naps tend to be pretty short.  He's on his first nap now where he successfully rolled over, just curious how your LO's fared once they started doing that.

Once mine LO got used to being on her belly, she started sleeping better on her belly. Now that's how she gets her long stretches. But it was a few bad nights

DS started sleeping on his tummy and his naps immediately went from 20-30 minutes to 1.5-2 hours. We're also in the midst of sleep training, so I don't know if it's from the tummy sleeping or sleep learning, but either way, I'll take it.

Exactly this for us too. G is also sleeping through the night now that she's no longer freaking out when she rolls onto her belly in the crib. It could be sleep training, it could be belly sleep- I'll take it either way!

Anya still has not rolled from back to belly...she only does side!

  • my LO rolls but still doesn't really sleep on her tummy.  I heard a few peeps from her this morning when she had rolled over, then I saw she actually fell asleep like that, but that lasted like 5 minutes, lol.  Usually I have to go in & roll her back on her back or she won't sleep.
  • When he first started rolling he couldn't fall asleep because he didn't like being on his tummy (and yet he would constantly roll over), so we kept having to go in and flip him back. Then after a couple days of this he fell asleep on his tummy, and has slept that way ever since.

He slept well before, on his back, and sleeps well now on his tummy, so no overall change once he got uses to it.

  • Julia started to sleep longer stretches at night when she began to roll over.  The first few days were a little difficult for her because she would get her arm stuck under her and get upset but now that's not a problem.  She rolls all around her crib every night but sleeps for usually @ 10 hours.
Now I can't really comment on naps because she does not nap.  No matter what we try, she will not sleep for more than 20 minutes at a time, 2-3 times a day.  Thank god she's a good sleeper at night!

  • LO sleeps so much better on her tummy both naps and at night. When she wakes up she either stays on her belly and plays or rolls over. I
  • Yeah he's still down for his nap right now and we're clocking in at almost 2 hours.  A record for home naps!  He has marathon naps at daycare of course.  And yeah, it's been rough when his arm gets trapped, but this morning was the first successful attempt at it during playtime.  Then he did it again for his nap now.  Hopefully he keeps on it and tonight isn't too rough.  I looked in the monitor and thought his arm was stuck at the beginning of his nap, which it kind of was, but it was his little foot stuck on the side of the crib that was causing the problems.  :(  Looks like we'll be getting one of those mesh bumpers.

L is a tummy sleeper. He started to roll in his sleep a couple weeks ago. It doesn't wake him up and he sleeps much better.
  • Cameron is a tummy sleeper. He sleeps and naps much better that way now.

At first she started waking up when she'd turn, but now sleeps on her tummy almost all night. Sometimes she still wakes up once, and goes back to sleep once I flip her.

  • It was pretty bad for a few nights until he learnt he could sleep with his head either side. He can't roll back still so rarely sleeps through the night, usually wakes up stuck at some point.
