Trolls

Why do you think the WM's board gets so many trolls?  Do you think we are an easy target?  I lurk a substantial amount on other boards, and I don't see it anywhere else.  Do you think it's people who are genuinely offended by our lifestyles or do you think it's just people who are bored and want to start drama by hitting us where they think we are particularly sensitive?

Personally I am VERY comfortable with my decision to work, so I don't really get offended by people making judgmental comments to me about the fact that I work full time.  I am very happy with my life, and wouldn't do it any other way, but I know that's not the case for everyone, so I imagine sometimes the trolls really hit a soft spot.  I'm just curious what others think and whether the trolls ever actually bother/hurt you.

I don't go here much but I lurk occasionally bc I am a working mom and I agree that there are more trolls on other boards. Sometimes I jump in to defend because I remember how hard the decision was and I know there are moms out there that might be going through the same thing.

Also I'm not sure every crazy person is a troll. I've had some nasty comments in IRL.

  • I love this board and the multiples board for the tame/helpful factor, which is why I only really post on these two.

Vent coming up - proceed with caution, pretty much not relevant to this discussion but... I got flamed on the 12-24 month board when I asked about transitioning my LOs from jarred food at like 14 months (not that they weren't eating any non-jar foods at the time) but come on people - when you have triplets and are going through a 'one-battle' at a time phase than AND only than can you flame someone, if you haven't been through something with 3 babies, don't make me out to be the bad mom - luckily there were some nice and helpful comments. That is my vent, thanks for letting me share.

Stick to the multiples board w/ all questions like that, from a twin mom. ;). I pretty much stuck to that board until between 2 & 3 and after 3 or so it was not as relevant anymore but early on you'll just get better advice from the MOMs b/c they get that you can't do everything the same as you would w/ just one.

This board is very tame. I appreciate everyone's honesty and tact. And the most recent Troll.....Wow. I think others have told her anything I'd care to say.

    I'd agree, pretty tame here.

My BMB goes through stages of all kinds of crazy, but usually those remaining just spend most of the time kissing each other's ass and praising each other for how awesome they are. Every so often I check back, but I never really got active there.

At least on this board, when someone's being crazy or off base, no one hesitates to tell them. And generally, in a straight forward, not dickish type of way.
I couldn't have described the BMB any better than this.  So true.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
