How do you make your own rice cereal? I've been feeding the organic brown rice cereal to ds and would love to make my own since I make all my own purees.

I blend dry, uncooked brown rice in the blender until powdery then wisk some of the powder into a pot of boiling water. wholesomebabyfood.com said to cook it for 15-20 mins and a cook book I got for Christmas says 5 minutes. I think it needs to be closer to 20 minutes.
I did the same with oats and barley too. I have tried freezing it too and that turns out so/so.
I should add that you can't fortify HM cereals with iron like the commercially bought ones are so you need to make sure that you are feed high iron fruits and veggies and vit c (for absorbtion)

Good point. I didn't think about that and we already have low iron issues (just came off prescription iron supplements) so maybe I'll stick with the store-bought stuff for now (although yours sounds so much more tasty).
