[5/19] Aug '14 PGAL Weekly Check-In @)-->-----

Welcome to the August ‘14 PgAL Check-In!
This is a weekly check-in for women who are due in the month of August (or thereabouts) and have suffered a previous pregnancy loss.  Being pregnant after a loss can produce a mix of emotions.  This check-in is intended to provide support while we make our way through each trimester.
If your EDD has changed, please let me know.  I try to pay attention to the board and get the latest update, but apologies if I missed out and I'm posting outdated info.

Re: [5/19] Aug '14 PGAL Weekly Check-In @)-->-----

  • @mdarmetko: We have friends comming down this weekend for the zoo, then traveling to my parents for memorial day weekend, Next weekend we are leaving for vacation.  I think all abut 1-2 weekends are booked until my EDD.

How many weeks are you: 28 weeks, Eggplant
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally):  Having trouble sleeping thru the night with being uncomfortable and bathroom breaks.  Can't belive how big & tired I feel already and still have 12 weeks to go.
Upcoming appointments or milestones: Next Apt. this Wednesday
What's been going down this past week: Crummy/Rainy/Stormy weather all week, left me just wanting to lay on the couch.  But we had a wedding rehersal Fri, Wedding on Sat and Family Event with Church on Sun, which were all really great.
GTKY: What are your Memorial Day weekend plans? Going to my parents for a cookout.  Enjoying a free vacation day from work!

  • How many weeks are you: 27w5d

How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): Ok, I have my low moments for both. My discomfort is definitely increasing and good sleep is non-existent these days. I'm still doing ok emotionally, but I have had moments where I realize how soon this is happening and I freak out a bit. It's a delicate balance between excitement and anxiety!

Upcoming appointments or milestones: Nada for awhile, and can't believe that after my next appointment I'll be seeing my OB every 2 weeks! Shit's getting REAL!!

What's been going down this past week: Passed my sugar challenge last week and had a pretty busy work week. I'm traveling to Montana this week for work which I'm less than thrilled about.

GTKY: What are your Memorial Day weekend plans? I'm taking Friday off of work too, so I'll have an extra long weekend and I CAN'T WAIT. I'm planning on some personal pampering (maybe a prenatal massage or a pedicure, or both if I'm feeling crazy!) and lots of cleaning/baby prep. the nursery is about half ready, but I want it all the way done by the end of the long weekend. I need to get all of the baby stuff out of the basement and cleaned up, too, so that's on my "to do" list for the weekend.

  • MeganEMcG5: I had a mommy to be massage & pedicure Tuesday.  I would highly recommend.  I felt so much better afterwards and I'm no longer embarrased to wear sandals since I couldn't reach my toes to make them look pretty.

  • How many weeks are you: 26 weeks, Lettuce!!
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): Feeling pretty good, definitely more achey, but I have been trying to take it a little easier and that seems to help. Thankfully I am not such a hormonal wreck this week!
What's been going down this past week: I had a wierd stomach bug on Saturday. It sucked. No throwing up, but I really wanted to just so I could feel better!!
GTKY: What are your Memorial Day weekend plans? Lol, I didn't even realize it was Memorial weekend! Hubby and I are going out of town for a wedding and then he is gone for a few days on a golf trip. I may need a few days at the spa when he gets back!!
    BabyFetus Ticker
  • @bkroxfan003 - It was awesome meeting you Saturday!  I'm looking forward to our next meet-up.  I didn't know you were CD too.  What kinds are you planning to try out?
@caybeh - It's so crazy how much more common loss is than the public realizes.  I found that it wasn't until I had losses of my own and shared them that others came forward.  I hope your loss EDD isn't too hard on you. (hugs)
@kountingsheep - Ooooh yeah… I could see how stadium seating would not feel awesome.  I hear that some women's feet grow in size during pregnancy.
@luvbrettnizzy - Sorry you had a stomach bug, but thankfully it only lasted a day.  With our immune systems these days, that's a miracle.
@MeganEMcG5 - It's so crazy how close the big day is now!  I've said to my H this weekend "Shit is getting real" about 1 billion times this weekend.
@MorganElise511 - I hear ya!  Sitting on anything but my yoga ball for too long gives me issues.  It feels like a bruised tailbone haha.
@muffin87 - Yeah, I think it's fine the baby is breech.  I asked my MW about it today and she said they don't even start making guesses on that until 32 weeks or so because its nothing to worry about this early.
@mv9310 - So you are moving back to the States or overseas?  Sorry if you said before and I forgot.
@Pink021 - Glad testing your blood has become more manageable.  Good idea to take it easy and give your H a rest.  Sound like naptime for you too! :)
@Russiandea12 - Woah, sounds jam packed!  Take a lot of naps!

    Weeks- 26!!!

Physical and emotionally- emotionally doing great. Physically the aches and pains have definitely amped up. I'm having trouble sleeping too do that's been no fun!

Milestones/ appts- next appt is may 30th. GD test and follow up ultrasound (didn't get good pics of the heart at my 20 week ultrasound). DS attending a sibling prep class this Saturday.

Past week- painted nursery (hence the aches and pains), started washing baby items.

GTKY- nothing! Excited for a much needed quiet weekend!
  • Sorry I haven't been around the past few weeks! Glad to read that everyone is doing well :)

How many weeks are you: 26 weeks
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): Emotionally- relieved that school is done and I have more time at home to get ready for the baby. Physically- I have been having terrible pain in my mid-back. It's the worst in the morning but sometimes it can last all day. I've been waking up at 5:30am feeling super stiff and it's so uncomfortable that I can't fall back asleep. I'm getting back into my yoga routine, getting chiro adjustments every couple days, and more regular massages. I'm hoping this helps otherwise I'm at a loss!
Upcoming appointments or milestones: GD test in 2 weeks.
What's been going down this past week: Finished school with A's in both my classes!!
GTKY: What are your Memorial Day weekend plans? No plans, but hoping for a relaxing weekend.

How many weeks are you: 27wks!
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): getting a bit anxious as I get closer to the twins birthdate.  It's at the end of June.
    Upcoming appointments or milestones: ^^^

What's been going down this past week: I played with some pig feet, and built a beer pong table.  Then played beerpong (my brother was my partner, and he drank all our drinks)

GTKY: What are your Memorial Day weekend plans? Not sure.  Our training is ramping up.

@NSAbby - 8/15/2014 - Hope your training is going well.
Thanks!  I spent 4 hours today playing with pig feet (doing stitches) because we had only 6 patients.  We hope to be just as bored the rest of the month!

  • How many weeks are you: 27 weeks today

    How are you feeling (physically/emotionally):
I am feeling well, except for a lasting, bad cramp in my calf.

    Upcoming appointments or milestones:
    Appt 5/29

What's been going down this past week:
I took DS to my parents house for my grandmothers surprise birthday party. It was the first time I have ever flown holding him on my lap (we usually get him his own seat, but since it was just me going I couldn't carry him and his car seat on the plane). He is an awesome traveller and we had a great trip until I got a weird cramp during the flight back. It wouldn't subside so I called the OB who sent me for an ultrasound of my leg to check for blood clots. After sufficiently scaring myself with google, I had the ultrasound which showed no evidence of a clot, whew :)

GTKY: What are your Memorial Day weekend plans? The weekend will be fairly low-key, even though it's our anniversary. We will be taking DS to the zoo and park, as well as a birthday party.

@mdarmetko- thanks for the check-in and so glad to hear everyone is doing okay!!!! :)

How many weeks are you: 28w0d--Eggplant
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): I remember thinking yesterday that I could feel the 3rd tri creeping in. I'm way more achy than I was before, and getting tired easily again (although that could be attributed to the insane weekend we had) and just being really cranky. But emotionally I'm feeling pretty good most days. I love feeling my little girl kick all the time, I just can't get over how amazing it is and it's helping my anxiety a lot.
Upcoming appointments or milestones: I'm meeting the new OB practice tomorrow! It's one of those practices when you meet all the doctors before you deliver. I hope it goes well and I'll still feel good about our decision to switch to a practice/hospital closer to home. I kept my appt. with my old doc in early June, just in case...
What's been going down this past week: I've been so so busy getting trying to get all my stuff done before the end of the school year. I have one student recital and one elementary music concert next week, so coordinating those has been a pain. Only 1.5 more weeks though, and work will start tapering off for the summer (wooo hoo!!). We also had late nights all weekend meeting up with old friends and things. It was great, but I was soo tired!!
GTKY: What are your Memorial Day weekend plans? Its our anniversary on the 26th, and we thought about going away for the night, but I think we're going to stay in town and go to a nice dinner. We may go to my in-laws for a memorial day BBQ, but not sure yet. They also have a pool, so if the weather is nice I may be able to break in that new maternity swimsuit (yay? :-S ).

@esmith10 - 8/16/2014 - How's the registry coming along.  You HAVE to complete it so people can buy you nice things. Its coming along, little by little. DH and I actually went to the Buy Buy Baby store an hour away and used a 20% off coupon to buy the glider we've been wanting. I'm actually sitting in it now, and its amazing! I was able to look around at some other stuff and was impressed with their prices so we started a registry there too. I also emailed 4 of my girlfriends that had babies within the last year, and they all had some good advice on what to put on our registry which was really helpful. AND today before I go to work I'm going to stop in to a cloth diapering store and check out what they have and what our options are. I'm hoping that will help inform our registry too. This cloth diapering thing is indimidating but the right thing for us, I think

  • @mdarmetko - Thanks for the advice on the peppermint tea. I will have to try it. Doctor gave me some meds yesterday but I would rather try natural remedies first.

How many weeks are you: 27 wks

How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): Physically, pretty good, starting to notice myself becoming slower in certain areas. Our laundry is in the basement and I have found myself thinking of new and creative ways of getting the laundry upstairs. Emotionally, things have been good as well. I have my days but just trying to stay focused and positive.

Upcoming appointments or milestones: Had my one hour GD test yesterday so I am waiting on those results. We go for a 3D/4D Ultrasound next Tues. so we are looking forward to it.

What's been going down this past week: A new bakery opened in town and my new addiction is their fudge brownies. I have had to make myself drive detours to avoid this place. :) Also, been trying to agree on a name for this little one. I have been to every baby name board, site, and book. Maybe when I see him next week something will click. :)

GTKY: What are your Memorial Day weekend plans? We always go to my Dad's hometown which is a little "blink and you will miss it" type of place. My husband and nephews always mow the graveyards and pressure wash every grave to make it look nice for people coming to put flowers on the graves. It has been a family tradition since I was born and it is nice the tradition continues for our kids.

  • @arusso07 - Hm, it's a sign... I think you should name her Fudge Brownie.
@ColeyJ88 - Sounds like you have a plan.  FX that it does the trick!
@esmith10 - Hey creeper… If the weather is nice, the pool will be awesome.  Just imagine being weightless!  Have you looked into the cloth diapering board yet?  It's pretty informative.
@ginny5683 - I started having pain in my lower stomach too!
@KaleMonster - Ah okay.  Well I hope you like it and it helps!
@Lena76 - Hopefully they'll get a good view at next week's u/s.  The baby is MUCH bigger now.
@mmsweeney1 - Yes, try to latch onto that positivity!  Stress will do nothing good for you or the baby!
@MrsDeo - 90 already?! Holy moly get in a pool!
@NSAbby - "Playing" with piggy feet would make me feel sad haha.
@Ptarma - What the hell is an H1N1 patient doing in your Dr's waiting room!  Yeah they should have quarintined her!
@salsy2012 - Passed out b/c of the GD?!
    @tahitiansun - Oh, I'm so glad it wasn't a blood clot!

  • Thanks for checking in, as usual!

How many weeks are you: 28w5d
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): good, for the most part. Definitely getting less comfortable and slowing down a bit.
Upcoming appointments or milestones: just had my GTT yesterday. Appointments every two weeks now! Seems too soon.
What's been going down this past week: dd has been sick with some nasty upper respiratory bug, so we are a bit sleep deprived here. Other than that, all is good.
GTKY: What are your Memorial Day weekend plans? DD turns three on Memorial Day, so we are having a big family party here. It's exciting because dd finally "gets" the whole birthday thing and it's all she wants to talk about :-)

  • Hi everyone! Thanks for the check-in @mdarmetko‌
How many weeks are you: 28w1d

How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): exhausted in both ways.. More exhausted emotionally though.. Barely coping with all that's going on.. :-/

Upcoming appointments or milestones: I'm relieved to be in the 28th week!! Have an appointment on Friday.. Every 2 weeks now..

What's been going down this past week: been dealing with GD which is no fun.. Thyroid meds too.. Hair issue.. Lack of sleep.. Really I can not imagine a human being doing nothing like this for another person except for a son/daughter.. It takes SO much..

GTKY: What are your Memorial Day weekend plans? We live in France so here that is a non thing.. But I hope to sleep in the whole weekend lol
  • @lingchow8655 - I hope you were ok today - I know these days can be so hard!

@ginny5683 - I so dread getting that question. I was out with my aunt once and she chimed in and answered for me that I was expecting my first baby. I was so sad!

@arusso07 - I am pretty sure my little girl won't ever end up with a name..........

How many weeks are you: 28 weeks 4 days!
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): Very winded! I sounds like I am 50 pounds and just climbed a flight of stairs when I need to talk for more than 20 seconds. Otherwise, I am ok just getting very big.
Upcoming appointments or milestones: Weekly MFM appt on Friday for growth, FFN and cervix check. Hoping my funneling stopped.
What's been going down this past week: getting nervous. I have 8 weeks until my induction @ 37 weeks!
GTKY: What are your Memorial Day weekend plans? Notta. Cant travel more than an hour from hospital - so baby errands and relaxation.
    It's a boy and a girl!

  • I'm late again! Thanks for the check in!
How many weeks are you: 28 today
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): I had headaches pretty bad last week and some this week and sitting at a desk all day is getting uncomfortable.
Upcoming appointments or milestones: I had an appt yesterday and I've gained 5 lbs in the past 3 weeks so my Dr was happy with that (me not so much :). She also told me that if my blood pressure gets high again this time she will deliver at 37 weeks instead of waiting until 39. I told her I would rather wait and see and keep her in as long as possible so we will schedule my RCS for 39 weeks at my next appt (31 weeks) and reevaluate if my BP gets to high.
What's been going down this past week: Not much, went and visited my grandmother and sister this weekend and work has been crazy (hence me just now checking in). We did get the antique bedroom set that is going to be DD's nursery furniture picked up to be refinished!
GTKY: What are your Memorial Day weekend plans? I have to work at my part-time job Saturday morning then we are probably going to the river for a little while. Sunday I have a newborn photo session (I take pictures on the side also) then some friends are having a crawfish boil so we will probably go there for a little while. Monday I am hoping to get some stuff done around the house, finish cleaning out the nursery and organize the office and my side business stuff (photography props and Thirty-One inventory) that is taking over my house! Hopefully now that we have the furniture out of the nursery we can get the rest of the baby stuff down from the attic and washed, put together and in there.
