Favorite luggage for kids?

Looking for something that isn't too big or too small. Some of the kiddie luggage seems cheap and too small.

I pack us all together. When DD travels with others, she has a pink rolling suitcase if she's flying, a fabric duffle and a LL Bean Boat Bag for just spending the night. The rolling suitcase came from ebags or like suitcase.com or something...it was from my FIL.

I was thinking about getting a Trunki for DS, does anyone have one? He is 6 months now, so obviously doesn't care, but we travel a lot and I think it would be a little more fun than an ordinary suitcase ;-)

My boys have PBK rolling cases. We've used them for air travel and car. I've been happy with them.

Because fun is fun? I don't know, I was kind of hoping it would be something he liked. Plus I've seen kids riding (and pulling) them through airports (thankfully never in crowded areas, ha) and it seems like a good way to entertain them in the gate area for a while while moving around to blow off some steam. I guess I should see how the size compares to other kids suitcases.

If you're going to travel like once a year, maybe? But other than that, IME and opinion it would be a huge waste of money.

It's the same size as all the other kids suitcases and about the same price, so I don't know why it would be a waste unless all kid-sized suitcases are a waste. For now it will be mostly car trips until he's a little older anyway, most of our friends and family are within driving distance.

All special "kid-sized" luggage is a waste for the most part, but especially something that is meant to be ridden on to the gate and holds like 4 pairs of underwear and one outfit.

I second LLBean stuff.

Based on the reviews on Amazon, I wouldn't be willing to buy the trunki. It's a cool concept that the kid can ride on it, but I would rather have something that lasts rather than something that breaks right away.

I was just wondering if it was better/worse/the same as all the other small suitcases when it comes to the 4 pairs of underwear they would hold.

I don't feel like the point of a kid having their own suitcase is to haul around all of their own crap, because man it seems like kids need a ton of stuff, but so they can have responsibility/ownership of their own things.

I think I'm going t go with a small adult suitcase. We typically pack together but we'll be going OOT for a few nights at the end of the month and DS asked if he can have his own suitcase. But all the stuff made specifically for kids look kind of useless

we got DS a small rolling suitcase a couple of years ago. it's a little smaller than the smallest "regular" or adult rolling suitcases & has rockets on it. adorable. it's perfect for traveling to grandma & grandpa's, but i agree that if we were flying, his stuff would be packed with ours (with extra stuff in a carry on of course.) i think that trunki would be a PITA b/c he'd want to ride it all the time in the airport.

I like LL Bean. My 7 and 9 year old have used their backpacks for 3 and 4 years now. My son is not gentle with his and it still works perfectly. If traveling by plane everything is packed together. If we are going to my parents my 7 year old likes to pack his own bag. He has used the same rolling suitcase from Target for about 4 years now. It has held up surprisingly well and he can stuff quite a bit of things in it. It is something like this one https://www.target.com/p/circo-boys-pilot-monster-pilot-case/-/A-14054265#prodSlot=medium_1_6&term=kids+luggage except his is just blue. I am not sure if the quality is still good on the newer model, but I have been pleasantly surprised with his suitcase.

that's the same as DS's just a different design.

No we don't travel quite that often. But he asked if he could have his own and I figured I would look into it. We're driving so having 1 extra suitcase or duffel isn't going to be a problem
