  • How Far Along Are you: 28 weeks
Week's Successes/Challenges: I think I may be at the end of my running for this pregnancy.  I tried to run a few miles last Friday and it was pretty uncomfortable.  I switched to running intervals about a mile in, running for .2 miles and then walking for .05 miles.  That actually felt much better and I was able to keep the same average pace.  Maybe I'll go out for a run here and there, but it definitely won't be a main part of my workouts for the next few months.  I've been reading a lot about how easy you should be taking it in the 3rd tri bc your baby grows so much and needs a lot of your energy, so I'm really not trying to do anything crazy.  I'm excited for the pool to open up next weekend so I can start swimming and doing water workouts.
GTKY: Are you a morning or a night person? Morning person for sure.  I can pop out of bed when I need to.  And I crash early at  night.

  • How Far Along Are you: 26 weeks today!
Week's Successes/Challenges: I have had a decrease in my hip pain, but I think I'm just getting more familiar with what triggers it. I also had a PT appt yesterday for my hip, and I would HIGHLY suggest if any of you feel that your pain is starting to interfere too much- to go to PT. They think my pubic symphis is only out of alignment in the front and since I started going now they can hopefully monitor it and keep me in order longer! I am adding spin to my routine but hoping to run 7 outdoor miles tomorrow, fingers crossed :)
GTKY: Are you a morning or a night person? Morning person! I start work very early and get off early. I can also go to bed ridiculously early...

How far along are you? 25 weeks tomorrow

Week's successes/challenges: Tuesday I went to the gym and walked for 45 minutes at a 5% incline. I prefer to walk outside, but I was studying for a final, so I figured I could go to the gym and study and work out at the same time :)
Last night I mowed our entire lawn (BIG lawn for in town) and did about an hours worth of house cleaning. I felt good last night!
Yesterday I found a good 10 minute pregnancy yoga workout from PopSugar Fitness and I'm excited to try that tonight!

GTKY: Are you a morning or night person? Neither. I love going to bed early and getting a full 8+ hours of sleep. But I don't sleep well, never have. It's unusual if I don't wake up at least 5 times a night. So that's probably why I'm not a morning person.

Oops, this is my first check-in, so my Goal: Just make more of an effort to be healthier in general.

Questions?: Is anyone dealing with/ dealt with round ligament pain while running? I have a support band - Gabriella - but I still get RLP and it sucks!
Week's Successes/Challenges: Successes -- running 20-25 mpw (6 days/ week), pace is only about 60-90 seconds than normal, which is surprising considering I'm now running .5 miles, walking 30 seconds
GTKY: Are you a morning or a night person? morning!

    -nope

-haven't checked in I a while... Sadly my half was a little over a week ago, and my husband ended up taking my bib. It was exciting because it was his first half and he rocked it, but I was disappointed that I didn't finish the beach cities challenge myself. I had been only able to run short distances (2-3 miles) and the thought of attempting to walk it as the day drew closer just made my entire body ache. I have since pretty much been exclusively walking, as running was really causing me a lot of hip and pelvis soreness. It was a bummer, but I think I made the right call not to go for the half.

-I'm definitely a morning person, though I am known to stay up later just to have alone time since DS was born ;)

How Far Along Are you: 25 weeks
Week's Successes/Challenges: We had a Crossfit-style kettlebell challenge yesterday in which I finished solidly in the top half of the class.  Pretty pumped about that.  I also used heavier weights than at least 1-2 men in the class.  What can I say, I have a competitive streak in me!  Challenges are the weight is finally creeping up on me and I've been terrible about walking.  It's been cold and/or rainy and miserable.
GTKY: Are you a morning or a night person? Right now I feel like neither!  I wake up at 7 and am in bed by 9:30.  I used to be a night owl pre-pregnancy.

  • How Far Along Are you: 28 weeks and change Questions?: how do people do this!? Oh yeah, Der Baby arrives at the end. Week's Successes/Challenges: vacation for the last week and a half, so eating right was a challenge. I stuck with oatmeal for breakfast and let H finish my dinners for me. Success was fitness, swimming every day. GTKY: Are you a morning or a night person? Used to be a night owl, but now I'm in bed before 10. Blech. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A couple weeks ago I didn't run a race that I've ran for years, and it was a big bummer. But I am feeling a lot better and I know if I had pushed it on a day I felt stiff/sore I probably wouldn't be feeling great now! I think you make the right choice :)

    Questions?: not this week

Week's Successes/Challenges: I'm down to running just once per week -  2 miles (10 minute miles), and I definitely had some RLP with today's :( All my other workouts this week were great though (elliptical, bike, strength training), and my "day off" was incredibly physical, between cleaning the apartment, grocery shopping, and cooking for 2 straight hours.

GTKY: Are you a morning or a night person? Morning for sure! I'm almost frighteningly productive in the first 2 hours after I'm up, then taper off the rest of the day. Since being with MH I've learned to stay up later though, as he's way more of a night owl.

i officially signed up for the houston full next january.  I don't have any expectation of running the full, but switching to the half.  Hopefully it will be realistic, but it all depends on how L&D go  :)

I've run the full for 10 years & hoping it will be motiviation and a goal for me after baby arrives.
Now that's a goal!  By that time I'm planning on racing my first 10k back, but like racing for a PR.  I know you are much more relaxed about racing than me, so I think its a great race (half or full) to have as a carrot.  You have a good plan to be pliable based on L&D and how you feel afterwards.

    @zoegirlTX I admire you!
The Army 10-miler in October is my only goal, and all I have to do is keep under a 15min pace!
It will be one of the longest races I've done since my back surgery.

I'm happy to report that I ran today! (Earlier this week I reported that last week might of been my last run).  Not only that, but I ran more than I had in awhile.  I'd been running up to 3 miles, but today I did 4.3!  It was a walk run, but  my average page was under 11.  Breaking it up really helped me log the miles.  Here's what I did:

1.5 mile running (warm-up to faster pace)
    3 x (0.10 walk + 0.40 run)
    5 x (0.05 walk + 0.20 run)
    walk to cool-down

I've been running .5 mi, walking 30sec, repeat. It's working out well !

My goal is to BQ when I'm 35 - in 3 years - and need a 3:40 marathon to do that. I ran a 3:48 at Philly right before I got KU so I'm hopeful !

My plan is to run a 1:42-1:45 half next fall, then 1:38ish the following year, and then go for the BQ the next year

  • TrishieTerp I have a similar goal.  I want to BQ before I'm 35 and qualify with the 3:35 time.  I've got 2 years.  I'm aiming for Chicago 2015 to hit that goal.  I think 14 months after the bean is born can give me time to properly train.  My marathon PR was in Philly too with 3:51.  6 months later I ran a half, training with more speedwork and tempo runs, and ran a 1:42, which puts me at an estimate 3:34 marathon.  I was also 5 months pregnant at the time so I didn't push myself as hard as I could have.  I'll test my half time in spring of 2015 to see if my goal is still achievable.  I'm nervous about bouncing back though because I've been out of the game for so long.  I've been pregnant for a year now (b/c of the 2 losses -- first pregnancy was in May of 2013 when I ran my PR half) so I haven't seriously run in awhile. Since, I've moved to CO from sea-level, so I'm hoping the elevation gives me an advantage.

Seriously though, no more than half hour ago I shed some tears over not being able to run like I want to.  Maybe its the hormones, but watching runners in the spring/summer is going to be hard.  I miss it so much!

  • Had to report my good run on Friday! I got in 8 miles. My hip was pretty sore afterwards, so I think any double digit runs may be out of the picture for the remainder of pregnancy (:() but I am glad I can still get out there. I can already feel an improvement from my PT exercises. I too, was doing a run walk combo, but I haven't been wearing my garmin so I just know my overall pace ended up around 10:30-11 min/mile which is great for me. There were a few 10 minute miles in there, though. It felt comfortable but like a pretty quick split, lol.

My goal race is going to be a full marathon in the summer or fall of 2015. I'd like to run a half by January, but we'll see.

  • Still running at least every other day.... usually around 3 miles..... even on a work trip to Napa, where it was well above 90 degrees.... did a half marathon two weeks ago and still can't believe that I ran 9 of the miles.
Baby is doing well... she/he seems to be a night person.  I am at my best in the afternoon :)
