Jackson George's birth story!

Jackson George was born Thursday, May 15th @ 8:02pm, weighing in at 9lb 3oz and measuring 22.25"! Here is his birth story! Sorry of it's long, I'm rambly and little dude is napping with Daddy so I have time to type!

Despite my instincts, and my best efforts, LO decided he wanted to bake until his due date and the date of my scheduled induction. I was scheduled to be induced because we knew he was at least 8 lbs, and my body had been flirting with pre-e for a few weeks. I was nervous, but it went so smoothly!

I checked in at 5am. I didn't need to ripen my cervix because I was already a little progressed at 2cm, 50%. So they started me on pitocin at just before 7am. Contractions started regularly right away at 4.5 minutes. Each half hour when then upped the dose, my contractions stayed regular and got closer together. I was rally happy that I was responding well! At around 11am, they broke my water. We saw meconium in the sac, so my doctor warned me that this is totally normal but just so I would not be alarmed when she would have to call in the peds team to suction him when he comes out. Contractions really picked up at that point and I decided to get the epidural. Best decision of my life! I was not quite numb yet though when they put in the catheter and that hurt way worse than getting the epi!

I continued to progress, hitting 6-7cm and 80% by late afternoon. I tried to take a nap but that wasn't happening. When she came to check me at 6:15pm I was 100% and at just about 10. We decided I should be ready to push by 7pm. I actually started just before 7 with a few practice pushes that started to move the baby, so we just went right into it. Overall with he epi, pushing was not terrible. The last 10 mins of getting his head out were by far the worst, but I was so excited I just pushed harder than I ever thought I could. My doctor kept saying, "he has dark hair!" And was pulling on in a little so my DH could see, and this helped to motivate me to finish the job. When they pulled him out, I was just bawling and so was DH. We were just so happy that he was finally here! I had over an hour of skin to skin with him which was amazing.

All the while, they were repairing my tears. I had one second degree tear on the outside, but several deep internal tears. Those hurt so much to repair, and It looked like I almost needed surgery. My doctor came in to check me every few hours during the night to see if a surgical repair was needed, but luckily the bleeding subsided by about 4am.

PP care has been painful and stressful, but I would do it all again in a minute...Jackson is my greatest gift and I just love him to pieces!!

Congrats to all mommas with outside babies and good luck/enjoy to those still waiting to deliver!
