Clomid not working.....

So the first cycle I was on clomid doc gave me 50mg each day. No effect, still ovulated same time I usually do (CD15 or 16) and still only 1 matured follie. This cycle, *EDITED* my doc gave me 100mg for 5 days. It seems I am getting a bit more follie, but at CD12 the biggest one is only 10mm so I think in the end maybe only 1 or 2 remains. I dont want to waste time with clomid anymore if it's not working for me. My doctor said he doesn't like Femera. Then what's next? Injections? patches?

Well, you've only had it for one cycle on one level dosage. Be patient. Your doc will likely adjust the dosage an try again. Things can take a few cycles and still be good. One cycle is nothing. I'm mobile and can't see your siggy; are you seeing an RE? How long TTC?

50 mg is a very conservative dose so try to keep that in mind. My doctor started me at 150 mg, and I responded well (usually 2-3 mature follies at time of IUI). For whatever reason it just didn't work for me, however. I've moved on to Femara + Follistim and am currently in the 2WW so we'll see how that worked this time Anyhoo, be patient with the meds. They'll probably vary based on your response and I imagine your doctor will bump your dose next cycle to increase your response.

And before you jump the gun for injects, beware they are crazy expensive. Not just the meds but the extra monitoring. I spent $2100 this cycle - and that was with a generously donated vial of Follistim. My Clomid cycles were about $1100, so it's almost twice the cost. Also: higher risk of multiples. Something to think about before using injects.

I stopped responding as well (as in 2+ mature follies) to Clomid 50mg after my 6th dose so my RE bumped me up to 100mg the next time. Maybe your RE will increase your dose and that will help. Some people need more than 50mg.

50 mg is a really low dose. I would try a higher dose before I would move onto anything else. There's also nothing wrong with ovulating on CD 15 or 16 (though I understand why you were hoping for more than one follicle).

My ob/gyn started me on 50mg of Clomid but once I switched to an RE they immediately started me on 100 mg and I responded well. I don't think your numbers sound bad with a mature follie and positive opk! I know sometimes it's easy to question your RE (I found myself doing it last week) but you really have to try and trust them and that they know what they're doing!

I never used Clomid, but did use Femara and responded decently. I did switch to injects in January. As @wishiwaspreggo stated, they are expensive if insurance does not cover them. They also come with increased monitoring appointments and an increase in the likelihood of multiples. They also come with the possibility of cancelled cycles. I have had two and they are emotionally draining and in some senses, a waste of money and time. Though you have no way of knowing that it will end up that way. From what I understand, 50 mg of Clomid is pretty conservative, so maybe you just need a little more.

Ladies, thank you so much for your response and I must apologies, I did not write my initial post completed. For the first cycle, I was on 50mg which had no effect. This cycle, doc upped the dose to 100mg, but still on CD12 the largest was only 10mm. This was what I was trying to say. Maybe ask to increase to 150 next cycle? I'm not sure if 150 would have any effect if I'm not responding at all to 100mg.
