Roly poly baby

Hannah is waking up multiple times a night from rolling all over her crib. I read that some people have used the changing pad to help keep the baby from rolling. I was wondering if anyone has done this or has any tips? She's not swaddled anymore and was sleeping much better until recently when she decided to become a crib acrobat. Help!!!!!

Pics for your trouble.... :)

  • So Alex did this for a couple of nights, then adjusted to her ability to do this in her crib/pnp. I vote just trying to gently turn LO over while still in a sort of sleep state, when possible.

  • Well she wakes up freaking out when she gets stuck in a position she doesn't like. This has been going on about a week.

  • Hmmm ... I know when they start rolling over it takes them a bit to adjust. Alex took several days to. Is it getting any better?

  • Not yet, but maybe I need to wait it out and it will get better?

I don't think putting a changing pad in the crib sounds safe. Unfortunately, you may just have to wait it out. We had a few (maybe 3 or 4?) rough nights when Finn first started rolling in his sleep. Hopefully your LO will adjust soon.

  • My LO does this too, but usually only once or twice a night, pretty much around the same time too, always early in the morning.  I just go in, roll her over, give her her paci & put the blanket back over her.  Yes, we use a blanket now, it's tucked in on the sides of the bed & only comes up to her waist, but I think it helps her feel secure & possibly even from rolling over more often, who knows.  She won't sleep on her tummy once she rolls herself over, otherwise I might let her.  I figure eventually they stop doing it as much?  I dunno, I hope it gets better with your LO!
  • G has been doing this as well. It took her a few nights, and she still occasionally gets herself stuck in the slats but she isn't freaking out when she flips herself over anymore. The nurse at the pedi's office said to try the breathable bumpers if she's doesn't out grow the getting stuck in the slats. She said to make sure we have them in correctly, but should be otherwise ok. I'm hoping she just out grows this as well.
