Labeling daycare stuff (STMs??)

DS starts daycare tomorrow.  All of his crap needs to be labelled.  Is there a temporary way to do this?  I don't want to take permanent marker to all of his sheets/blankets/clothes.

I thought about tape, but not sure how safe that is.

They make bands for bottles and cups. I'll think of the website in a bit and post it.

Pregnancy brain prevents me from telling you now.

If daycare doesn't take the tape off and DS takes it off, it's a choking hazard, no?

He's one.  If he were older, I would see harm.

Our soon to be daycare suggested ordering the InchBug label bands for any bottles/cups.

Did you have the iron on clothing labels?  Can you take them off?

  • We just wrote our last initial on the tags in sharpie.  Why don't you want marker?

They want his full name.  If I pass the clothes along, I don't want his name to stay on them.  If I could just do initials or something similar, I would use marker.

  • We used Inch bug and loved their stuff. Don't forget the smaller labels for the bottle lids in addition to the bottle it's self.
  • Another good thing to know is that MAM makes personalized pacifiers. A little pricey but if your LO loves them like my DS did, then the piece of mind of knowing that their paci is labeled and will not wind up in someone else's mouth is totally worth it to me!

Inch bug has the name labels that go on tags. Full name. They're small and cute.
I was surprised they survived the washer and dryer but they did.

Their press & stick small round laundry labels stay on really well in the washer & dryer but you can get them off if you need to.

I was just going to ask how old your child is before seeing your followup post. I wouldn't send tape labels for a 1-year-old either.

I've heard good things about both Name Bubbles and Mabel's Labels. But...we're supposed to label everything and I never bothered. We're not the only ones. I would look around next week to see if you have a daycare of compliant moms or a daycare of rule breakers...you might be able to get away with not labeling most of his stuff. I tend to keep fairly close track of DD's things and go hunting for stuff when it goes missing so we've had decent luck playing the odds with unlabeled gear.
  • I ordered from oliver's labels and loved the product- I will use them again.

  • Oliver's labels, Mabel's labels, a label maker, masking tape, or sharpie on the tags all make regular appearances in my preschool room. You can wrap around the masking tape or label with packing tape to make a complete seal too.
