If so, did your company pay for the certification and if so, how did you sell them on paying for it? I am interested in pursuing it, mostly because it will look good on a resume and also because my company is going WCO in the next few years and feel it could be beneficial, but I am not sure if it is worth the time and money to pursue it on my own.
Thanks
Also, thinking of Aveta or Villanova distance learning, as I live in the boonies and there is no place offering certification seminars here.
Re: Anyone six sigma?
Our company has it's own training and certification process. All engineers are required to get the basic training which I did years ago. People interested in pursuing jobs in our quality organization generally will complete all levels of training.
If you truly think it will benefit your company I would outline on paper how and what positive impacts it would have. Hopefully, you could estimate, or project a cost savings to your company to support them paying for the classes/certification.
My company also offers reimbursement for continuing education that you can show will be applicable to your current job/role. But it is only granted if we don't internally offer similar classes/training.
My company offered the training internally, and since everyone had to do it, I can't offer much advice on how to convince them to pay for your training and certification. If you work in manufacturing, I would think you could make a pretty solid argument that learning how to use statistics and understand variation would pay off in your role.
