Momma's to be with inconsistent contractions

I'm going to be 39 weeks tomorrow. Went in yesterday for contractions (timetable/painful/consistent that didn't allow me to progress) so that had me walk. I was literally in so much pain from my back and my hips that it hurt to walk.......

So here is my question. Do you push through the pain to see if walking will help you or relax and just let nature take its course?

  • You're only 39 wks. I'd say relax if walking is that painful. Take a bath to ease your back and hip pain and walk when you can, but don't push yourself too much.

This. If the contractions happen when I'm already sitting, I will try walking around a bit (or at least staying up on my feet) to see if they stop. Sometimes, it is really uncomfortable so I don't force it.

If changing your position/movement makes things stop or slow down, it's a false alarm. Don't force it if you're not feeling well.

  • When I went in I was having timeable painful contractions every 3-5 minutes and stayed at a 2 for 4 hours. Waking is what helped me get to a 3 and then they finally admitted me and broke my water. But like pp said if you sit down or take a shower and they stop then it's most likely a false alarm. My contractions didn't go away no matter what I did it just took forever to progress.

  • I had my second false alarm last night. I had very painful contractions 5 min apart for hours but I wasn't progressing past a 2. I was sent home, got 2 hours of sleep and then headed to the dr for my appointment that was already scheduled. She offered for me to go to the hospital later today to have my water broken and hopefully get active labor going. I have decided to go in later and do this. Im going on 3 days of contractions and I feel like my body needs a little help. Im 40+1 today.
  • Been inconsistent since Friday. They checked me and I wasn't dialated so I went home. Last night I was getting some regular sharp pain in my cervix along with contractions so maybe I started dilating, but just playing the waiting game. I feel like a ticking time bomb!
  • @MK1013 for me its like every 2nd day, I have timeable contractions all day long, getting progressively worse, whether I'm sitting, standing, laying, walking.......then I fall asleep or dose off and they go away, get up to pee, and they come back......its frustrating and awful isn't it.

  • Every night I have been getting inconsistent contractions that eventually stop with walking or falling asleep. The second I roll over in bed, they start up again. I wish I could sleep standing up as that seems to be the only consistent position where they are not *that* bad.

Been inconsistent for a week now, trying to come to grips with going overdue. I get some rough contractions a couple times a day, but baby isn't engaged so they probably aren't doing anything.
