I know we've had many vaccine discussions on here. I'm wondering if we are all being smart and vaccinating or if there are non-vaxxers on beer that just keep quiet to avoid flames.
So. Are you vaccinating?
((Being afraid of a reaction or toxins when there's no actual evidence do not count as "a health reason". That's for actual diagnosed health issues.))

...also I generally do whatever the NICU or pediatrician or urologist tells us. They have yet to steer me wrong.
We met with a pedi as a part of our childbirth class and he said unequivocally, the most important job he has is to vaccinate kids. Wejusthad a measles proutbreak in our towna couple months ago, it was scary to have a bootabvulnerable lo... she's getting them all as soon as possible.

...unless there are 4 month shots? That's just because we can't get to his legs right now.
I'm just saying, even an unhealthy baby can be fine with shots on time. It's very case-by-case.

Just out of curiosity, what are some health reasons why lo's shouldn't get vaccines? I read the response about sensitive tummies. I'd also guess allergies -- but how do they know if a LO is allergic to the vaccine ingredients?
Cancer or other diseases that suppress the immune system often mean no vaccines.
We discussed this concern with him. They know who the unvaccinated kids are and quarantine them when they are waiting.
Our ped and her partners agreed our daughter should hold off the first year, because of the issues we had with our son (and I have Crohns as well, and have had HSP flair ups, so they are cautious with our kids' guts)..
I'm thankful those around us vaccinate their children when my children can't be right now.
It's chickenpox....if we did day care I'd do it off the get go. If she hasn't had chickenpox by school time she'll get it. I guess I should have said we're delaying this one....

Both of my healthy sisters had shingles outbreaks in college. One had them so bad she could barely study and it happened during finals week. Luckily her grades were good enough a bad final exam didn't destroy her chances of grad school.
Several of my friends have visible scarring on their face.
A childhood friend died at age 4 from a what they think may have been complications of chicken pox (though, to be fair, they don't really know what happened and it's one possibility).
And what about babies and those with weak immune systems who are at risk and who you could help protect through herd immunity by vaccinating?
There is no real risk to vaccinating and many benefits for your children and others. Do it.

Eta: lower risk, but still there. Like I said, I chose to delay it. That was with my oldest. Odds are they'll both get it this year. It's not because chemicals, it's not because I'm uneducated. I did my research, discussed it with her pedi, and made my decision. I chose to delay it and I'm not sorry.
DD1 also only got 1/2 of her flu shot because she had a skin reaction to it. We'll be discussing that vaccination with the pedi come flu season.

We get all others on schedule for LO2.
For LO1, we spread his first year of shots out, so one shot at a time, instead of 3 or 4 at once. He was completely caught up with the regular schedule by 18m. H had some reactions to vaccines as a child (although I think some of it was MIL insane now that I know her better) but we were nervous FTPs and wanted to know if LO had a reaction exactly which one was causing the issue. Since he never had issues, and going to the Drs a million times isn't as easy this go-around, we are just sticking with the standard schedule this time.
We were never opposed to vaccines, just nervous because of MIL's weird stories about H's reactions. But the more I learn about her, the more I realize she's just BSC.
Instead of 4 vaccines at once, we go back every month and do 2 at a time. I don't consider it a delayed schedule because my kids are totally up to date on everything.
My pedi offered it with DD1, and since it worked out, I have done the same with the other 2. I'm glad we do it this way, because DD2 had a horrible reaction to her varicella and now we know exactly which vaccine it was. I'm not even sure the pedi will give her the next dose. She had hives/a rash for over a month. We ended up at children's hospital because of it, and she took Zyrtec and Benedryl daily for weeks. It sucked. I feel like the reaction might have been worse than getting the actual chickenpox....and now she most likely still doesn't have immunity to it.
My pediatrician doesn't give the rotovirus vaccine, so that is the only one we are missing.
ETA: we also delay the hep B until the 2 month shots.
For my MIL she felt that this fact, combined with the high cost (and the fact that she is still pretty young) was reason to forego the vaccine.
