RUDE PEOPLE!

Welp. Gotta love going to a deli and getting completely ignored because the employees are too busy having a personal conversation!
I walked out after 7 minutes (5 minutes I stood at the counter before MAKING RYE CONTACT with the cashier- 2 minutes after, realizing she wasn't going to pause her IMPORTANT conversation to either come over or let the deli person). My husband was just walking in after pumping gas when I met him at the door. I looked over my shoulder and said "thanks for the customer service! I'll make sure to tell *** you say hi!" (their boss)
Sorry folks, your boss used to be my landlord-- he's worked his A$$ off to build his growing company & will it be way less than thrilled to hear about this.
Anyone else have a rude encounter this weekend?

Re: RUDE PEOPLE!

  • Ok that is very rude, but did you say something to them? I know at my local grocery store if people don't say something or at least gesture that they are ready to make an order, they are typically ignored. I guess they are just used to people coming to browse the deli or seafood section lol.

Every effing time I take my kid to the store, she HAS to talk to the lobsters- so I'm typically standing in the seafood section for a few minutes and they mostly ignore us.

I have had experiences in the past where I found people to be so blatantly rude I just walk out of the store, but it's usually people that seem like they're annoyed by having to do a job

  • Mrs Castillo - we live in a rural New England town - everyone knows everyone, waves/nods as you're going down the street etc. - my first hint should have been that neither of them looked up and said "Hello"--- that's how quaint everything is here- not to mention when it's someone's JOB.

It's a growing deli/gas station that he started at 1 location and now has about 10 in the twin states -- it just irritates me when people work hard and have other people like this working for them.

  • Oh man, that is rude. I have to honestly say, in my area, I very rarely experience rude behavior in public by employees.

I'm in NE too, but not in a very quaint area LOL

ITA, I would say something to the guy, especially since you know him personally. I'm sure he would at the very least, have a talk with his employees about common courtesy.

  • @mgeorgeNH I'm also in a New England rural town. I grew up in the Boston area and I have to say you're right about everyone being so friendly. It was a little strange when we first moved and everyone smiled and waved at us. Now I'm so used to it that if I do encounter someone rude it really bothers me..
  • That's rude no matter where you are!! There is no excuse for poor customer service if that is your job!! You shouldn't have to say anything to the employees, I mean, that is what they were hired to do. Greet and serve customers. I'd definitely say something to the owner so he can work with them so they don't lose him more business.
