Lazy Nesting for the Win!

Sooooo.... Finally got that amazing thing some women get that actually makes them want to clean! Except I'm 38 weeks pregnant and feel like a potato with legs that look like swollen sausages. Bending down is painful and now to add to the fun it's really hot. So now i'm dizzy and overheated and the work that still needs to be done seems endless! So I have invented lazy nesting! Rolling chair vacuuming I have to say is great. Not to mention my new best friend, the bag of candy I now have to bribe my nieces to help out with the low cleaning, and tomorrow they are excited to get to play outside in the hose with the dog. While i'm over here going "Yay, the dog gets a bath before the baby comes!"

So mamas what are some of your tricks to get the cleaning done without running yourself ragged?

  • Ya I pretend the mess doesn't exist. Or my MIL will clean for me.
  • I got to tell DH what to do while he did it for me. Then he got smart and handed me stuff I could do from the bed...

  • I just had my baby at 37 weeks, then had my mom do the cleaning first week we were home :P
  • I keep hoping to get that nesting feeling. Baby's room is ready so that is all the nesting I've done. I'm so not a clean person ever so I guess I'm not expecting to get it. I'll be shocked if it does happen!

  • It's weird, I feel like I'm only nesting at work, if that would even be considered nesting. I just hate the idea of my department's lead teacher having to pick up my slack and the new dance coach having a lot on her plate for the summer. So, I just keep getting more and more crap done. By the time I get home, I couldn't care less about if shit is clean or not. Luckily, DH is a neat freak so our house is usually pretty tidy, we just need the nooks and crannies and such taken care of.

  • @FlemDance‌ that's how I was before I went on maternity leave. I was hoping it would transfer to home since I'm doing nothing all day. No luck. :-(

This is me too. I was so hoping the "nesting" thing would hit me! But nope! And I don't think it's gonna anytime soon.

The only reason I'm nesting is because I'm on my second week of leave with no baby, and would lose my mind if I didn't invent chores for myself every day.

@delatl me too! I can't do nothing all day. So all of the sudden I see the windows could be washed, the floor could be mopped, etc. Stuff that really doesn't need to be done, gets done cuz I can't just sit and twittle my thumbs anymore!
  • I asked my sister to come over and help me. She did all the heavy lifting and vacuuming
  • I had the carpet cleaners come one day and a maid the next. Sitting back and listening to the sounds of someone else cleaning my house was pure bliss. :)

  • I had a cleaning lady come out.  So worth it.  I figure I've saved enough money from not drinking wine for the last 9 months I deserved to put it towards a cleaning lady:-P   HIGHLY recommend.   I did get the nesting bug last weekend though and totally cleaned and organized our basement which was nasty and in much need of help.   Now I just have do do laundry but all I want to do is sit and do nothing.  The nesting has sadly passed.

  • Ugh contemplating shaving the dog for summer, her undercoat is so thick that even after being brushed almost everyday my floors are covered in dog hair and need to be vacuumed again...
I want to get the bassinet set up but I'm worried about it getting covered in pet hair so that even when baby comes it will need to be washed again before I can even put him in it.
  • I am a psycho nester. Besides setting up baby's room and washing all baby items which was done months ago, this weekend I scrubbed carpets, mopped, washed and vacuumed both cars, put in the car seat, weeded the flower beds, scrubbed the backyard deck, washed interior and exterior of all windows cleaned fish tank, dusted the entire house, and washed outdoor furniture. I thought I would work this baby right out of me. No luck but yet clean house!!
