Colic+Daycare=?

We are starting daycare on Tuesday, and I'm so sad I wanna die. Melodramatic, I know. Part of my concern is she is still colic and requires a lot of consoling just to sleep for naps, and I'm afraid her DC provider won't want to do that and then DD will be distressed and overtired all day. Does anyone have any advice on dealing with first time daycare paranoia, or maybe a LO that was colic and went to DC? TIA!

She just doesn't sleep at DC. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you. She's happy there, doesn't cry too much any more (it's been 2 months and we go 3 days a week) but she's pretty much just tired all of the time.

  • @rgoblue‌ Um She's hit or miss with it. She doesn't really like to be confined. I'm glad to hear you ladies say they adapt though. I think I'll likely cry a lot these next two weeks.

In my moms daycare we've had kids with colic over the years. The first little bit is the hardest but they do adapt! We try a bunch of different things to see what helps each particular child to settle and it doesn't usually take too long before they adapt and love going to daycare. It is harder on the parents than the children!((hugs)) good luck going back to work. I hope your transition is smooth.

  • I have no advice to offer, but just wanted to say good luck with the transition. It is tough to go back to work, but it makes the time at home with LO even more precious and special. Try to focus on that!

  • Thanks ladies! I know she'll get used to it (probably sooner than I will!)
  • I am in the process of finding a new daycare. Mine has WAY more kids than they can handle and WAY too many for one room. They still managed to get him to take a bottle when no one else could for 16 weeks. My point is even in crazy town he learned something new and is happy. I think (hope) babies adapt to these new situations way better than us. I personally didn't give Landon or daycare enough going in. Unfortunately I still hate sending him and will probably always be on the hunt for a better one.

  • Thanks @sarahlisa00‌ ! I have a little more faith that hopefully they can get her to nap or maybe at least calm her when she's colicky. Poor thing has diaper rash now too :(
