Post delivery headaches

Anyone suffering from these? I didn't have this with DS1 and these headaches are killer!

Yesterday I was in tears and I never have headaches or let something get to me like that. DH is an ER nurse and said if it didn't get better he was taking me for a cat scan. I'm 18days pp so a spinal headache would be out of the question from the epidural from everything I've read!

How is your BP?  Is there any chance of a clot?

I had a massive headache this week that I was pretty sure was a sinus/allergy related headache.  And the drip I have related to this created  a sinus/bronchial infection...

BUT, the headache and breathing had my OB panicked that it could be a post surgery clot or issue with my BP (which is why I delivered early)....

Headaches make people nervous.  Definitely get checked out.  I promised my OB that if my allergy prescription and Z-pack didn't work, I would go in for a cat scan...thankfully I was right.

    Better safe than sorry?

  • I've had one on and off for almost a week. They say you can get them from nursing too from hormones

I also get them from lack of sleep. I plan on checking in with my midwife this week.
  • I have had one since I had her Tuesday but they told me that it was probably a spinal headache and the procedure sounded scary so I opted to try and do some other things to fix it. They seem to be getting better but I'm thinking about giving it a few more days and going in. If it's been 18 days then I think it would be worth checking it out. I was happy to see this post because I almost wrote one myself to see if anyone else was suffering from headaches. I didn't know you could also get them from breast feeding. The nurse said mine could be from pushing too. Hoping you feel better!

  • If it's unusual for you, go get it looked at. Blood clots are no joke, definitely better safe than sorry.

I've had a few mild ones from lack of sleep, but nothing too terrible. On a side note did you get an epidural? Headaches are a sign of a complication from them.. some sort of spinal leak if I can remember right. Maybe call your Dr if you did have one.

My BP Has been low actually like 90s/50s. I will call them today since I had another last night and had to get out the 800mg Motrin from delivery.

Thanks everyone! I did have an epidural but like I said, it's been too far out from delivery for a spinal headache to occur from everything I read it's within 5 days.

BP had been low. I am breastfeeding and did the first time around also but I've never heard about it causing headaches also so I will look into that!

  • I didn't notice my spinal headache for a little because I kept thinking it's probably from pushing and I was on medicine for pain but the thing that tells me it is a spinal headache is that laying down takes it away. Have you tried that?

  • I figured it was just from lack of sleep and change of sleep schedule
