3rd Trimester

Anyone else cleaning out their closet?

Since nothing fits, and with the change of the season, I literally just want to get rid of all my clothes and start fresh after the baby. Is anyone else getting anxious looking at their closet?

Re: Anyone else cleaning out their closet?

  • I actually just opened one of my drawers the other day to look for something and thought to myself "oh that's what my clothes look like." I'm hoping I will be able to fit into my looser clothes this summer and my work clothes by September (I'm a teacher). I am sure I will be going shopping because I do not think this is realistic haha.

  • I started pulling out my summer clothes the other day and realized that NOTHING will fit, and probably won't fit this summer at all. Just wanted to throw the whole bin in the trash. Is it worth keeping the pre baby size? I am hoping I can get back into them eventually.I am 31 weeks and have gained 17 pounds so far. But the way I understand it is the pounds will start packing on from now til the end. Do I buy more maternity clothes? Or just a bigger size in normal clothes?
  • I get anxious looking at my closet because my shelfs collapsed so my closet is just one big empty box waiting to be re shelved and all my clothes are on the floor.  Supposed to get it down next week.
  • i switched my whole closet over to my summer stuff and put away most of my winter clothes...i am hoping to get back into most of my summer clothes but until then i feel like most of my maternity tops will work for a while and being home i will live in yoga pants and maxi skirts!!!

I moved all my winter and normal summer clothes to our guest room closet for the duration.  Our closet is so cramped I can only really keep the necessities that might actually fit me in it currently.  I have a few of my old normal shirts that probably should go visit the guest room, too...

  • I did mine a few weeks ago because hubby's clothes were in the nursery closet all this time. I managed to figure out how to combine our clothes and decided to get out summer stuff. I literally left 98% of my stuff in the bins until further notice because I have no room for it and it surely doesn't fit. Lol. I will pull some out once baby is here and see what I can fit into.

  • I've actually been planning a capsule wardrobe where I only have things I love and they mix and match well. I hate having lots of things, so a minimalist approach to my wardrobe seemed fitting.

I gave away two huge bags of clothes to begin with.

Then I made list of items I need, bought fabric and have been sewing a lot. So hopefully in a few months I'll be back to my old size but if i takes longer to get back, I have enough stretchy clothes to keep me going for a while.

This is a great time to take a look at your wardrobe and sort it out.
  • I just did a round of keep or donate last week. Stuff that was old etc, I finally parted with. And the stuff I don't believe I will ever fit into again. No more wishful thinking, I'm being realistic with myself

  • I got rid of 4 big totes full of clothes back in December. Just before I found out I'm pregnant. I had lost 80lbs so I was getting rid of all the clothes that were too big, and or stuff I didn't want anymore.
Now I only have one drawer of mix and match maternity clothes to last me until the LO comes. (due in sept)
I do regret giving away some of those clothes since now it's summer and I could totally used some of those stuff but on the other hand it wouldn't have been that flattering anyways.
I agree with one of the previous posts. Keep it simple and use what is needed.
However, I am not getting rid of anymore clothes because who knows what will fit after the baby is born.
I figure I'd wait to make those decisions after when I know what fits and doesn't before doing a major closet overhaul!
  • I purged after I had DS. I had lost a bunch of weight and was going to get rid of them. I managed to only buy 1 maternity piece of clothing when I was pregnant with DS. I wore all my 'fat' clothes during that time. After I had him I had 2 trash bags full of clothes I gave to Goodwill. This time around. I have bought yoga pants/ 2 pairs of maternity shirts. I think I'm doing pretty well. Thank goodness it's summer here already so I don't have to drop the money on buying jeans.
I will start back getting my ass in shape after DD is born and purge my closet again.

  • I went through and packed up all of my non-maternity clothes during my 2nd trimester. Put them in tubs and stored them because it was making me depressed to look at so many clothes that I couldn't fit into. Whenever I get around to my maternity clothes not looking good again after birth, I'll bring them out and I'm guessing I will only want to put about half of them back in my closet. My maternity wardrobe has shown me that I really don't need as many clothes as I thought I did before.
