Comfort Sucking

Hi Ladies need some more of your lovely advice. My daughter is 13 almost 14 weeks old and has recently been wanting to comfort suck a lot but she won't take a pacifer ( I have tried soothies and mam) When I am home I have no problem cuddling with her and keeping her on my breast to comfort her (maybe this is bad?) however when I am at work is when the problem arises. She'll take a bottle no problem and suck on it but it's recently lead to over feeding. I need advice on things my husband and baby sitter can do when I am not home. We do believe part of the reason she wants to suck more is because she is teething.

Re: Comfort Sucking

  • You could try more smaller bottles, but also, look up techniques for soothing baby. Rocking, swinging, swaddling, take baby out to the fresh air if it's nice.

  • Have you tried giving her a teething ring to suck on?
Or my son loved sucking on his burp clothes.
Or take a baby washcloth, roll it up, wet one end and stick in freezer for 15 minutes.
