Breastfeeding

Please tell me it's a growth spurt.

So DS has been feeding non stop since about 10 this morning and has barely napped. He's 9 days old.

It started yesterday with a few hour cluster feed and I had to wake him overnight to eat.

Please tell me this is a growth spurt and soon he will be back to routine-ish.

  • Sounds like it to me. My daughter hit one around that time and I just remember for 2 days being emotional and tired but I felt awful when she was upset their wasn't enough.

Hang in there and it should hopefully be over in the next day or two as long as you are feeding on demand.

Thank you :) he's getting it as soon as he's asking for it. Just wish he'd sleep a bit today. Hopefully he will tonight.
  • Whew. It's been a crazy day. I wouldn't care so much if my inlaws hadn't come to visit and I've been in my room 99% of the time they have been there. I know they want to see him and hold him. I'm hoping is passes so they can spend some time with him.
  • It's a growth spurt. You'll get through it, just follow his lead. Good luck!

  • Absolutely :) I want to bf him exclusively so I'll take the bad with the good. It's hard not to worry when the little one throws a curve ball!

Hang in there! It'll get better... And then worse and then better and so on and so forth. Eventually it gets better and stays that way more or less. Just follow baby's cues, get comfy, and remember that this doesn't last forever. EBFing is tough but has also been such a wonderful experience. GL!
