3rd Trimester

Food poisoning at 33 weeks

MIL made me an egg sandwich for breakfast 2 days ago that was questionably cooked... and I've been super sick since yesterday with stomach cramps, diahrea & nausea. Went to the hospital they gave me meds for the stomach pain and nausea and just some fluids. Still feel like crap. Baby is moving and all but I'm super worried :/ follow up appt is Monday with my ob. Anyone know of someone who had food poisoning during pregnancy?

I had it toward the end of first trimester and it was definitely no fun. Felt awful for about 5 days and ended up in the ER for fluids too at OB's request. Not much to be done except ride it out and take whatever nausea meds they give you (beware the Zofran constipation though, even worse than normal if you're dehydrated). I'm at 18 weeks now and the babies are looking great, it didn't seem to bother them. Hope you feel better soon.

Not food poisoning but I had a stomach virus at 32 weeks. Just try your best to stay hydrated. It took me about a week to feel back to normal.
  • I had food poisoning during my last pregnancy. It sucked. I only went to the hospital bc I had lost a lot if weight and plus there was more fetal movement than normal. I just needed fluids and was back to normal in about a week.
  • I had food poisoning in my 3rd tri with my last pregnancy, I was around 35 or 36 weeks I think. I couldn't keep anything down, so I went to L&D because there was concern about dehydration. They hooked my up to a fetal monitor and I got 2 1/2 bags of fluid before they sent me home. But it passed out of my system pretty quick, I was back to normal after less than 48 hours. Baby was fine the whole time, which was the important thing. Are you staying hydrated since they sent you home?
