Breast blow up

Before becoming pregnant, I was a 38D. The first thing that cued me in on being pregnant was my tender and enlarged breasts. I am 22 weeks and Now my breasts have doubled in size and one nipple does not protrude like the other. The same nipple's areola has become very lumpy and I am getting nervous as I plan to breast feed exclusively. Will this be an issue? Will my breasts return back to normal after pregnancy? Should I hold off on buying more bras as it seems like they keep getting bigger and bigger every week. Will they get even bigger when my milk starts to come in? Please advise and thank you!!

  • You may need a nipple shield or breast shell to help with the one that does not protrude. I used one for about 5 weeks on just one side and then was able to wean from it. Don't worry about it at this point and make sure that you see and LC when in the hospital. Good luck with everything!!

I was also a 38D prepregnancy, and I noticed huge changes in my boobs. The lumpy areolas, nipples changed, I got little brown bumps, there were drastic increases/decreases in size. I never leaked milk, so I was worried I wasn't going to be able to breast feed. We are about a week and a half into EBF and everything is fine! I do need a nipple shield due to size and short nipples, though sometimes I can get him to latch without it. For nursing bras, I bought a lot of soft stretchy ones to start with since I didn't know how my breast size would change once my milk came in. Good luck!
