You've hit such an amazing milestone that you deserve your own thread. You are one strong, kick ass lady for going 5 years sober that I am feeling a little teary about it. I'm also proud of you for being able to speak up about it. You're doing a fantastic job as a mama, wife, boss lady, and F14 friend too. And I know that I'm not the only one who thinks so.

You are awesome!

I just can't even. Thank you. I saw this and got a huge stupid grin on my face, and then I teared up, and then I laughed out loud.

@missdemeanor I'm not embarrassed at all. I'm touched, quite frankly. And I think it's important for me to be open and honest about my past, because it's part of who I am. You also just never know who else might be struggling, and me being honest about my alcoholism might pave the way for someone else, ya know?

Five years ago...I was just such a broken person. So, so sick, and so sad, and just so broken. It's a holy miracle I'm even alive today.

Thank you guys for celebrating with me!! Let's party! (with diet coke? hahahaha)

@beachbumm2214 -- OMG don't feel bad!! Just because I don't drink does NOT mean I think anyone should abstain. Hell, I've even participated in drinking threads, because um yeah I could throw you all under the booze bus with my antics and experiences. ;-)

But hey -- I'm allergic to alcohol, and you guys aren't. Every time I drink, I break out in handcuffs. Pretty sure that doesn't happen to you all.

I've witnessed alcoholics within my own family and I know it's no joke to fight it. (I've even lost one uncle to it.) It's very very hard and hence you are very very very strong. Congratulations!

I have known way too many people who have suffered and still do and are not able to get out of addiction's grasp. Kudos to you!
