Pregnant after a Loss

Question: what do you find "comforting"?

What's something that you are finding "comforting" in this preg, that is helping you deal with pgal brain? For me it's that I'm ALWAYS thirsty and am craving hot and spicy everything. Weird, but I think it's reassuring because its very similar to my first preg, whereas my MC was nothing but every bad symptom possible, from 4 weeks on.

Statistics. It sounds kind of weird, but knowing the odds at this point makes me feel better.

Also, recently it's been watching my belly button start to pop out. It is evidence of my belly growing quickly which I take as a good sign.

I'm with RN, not much. I'm past all my milestones, but I don't know that in pgal you ever feel safe. So far the only real symptom I have is constipation. My prior pgs(losses) I had symptoms galore & one no symptoms. *shrugs*

@RN536‌ I'm mobile & can't see how far along you are, but my LO runs from the Doppler! I've been able to find the hb since 11w2d, then had a couple days where I couldn't. Tried again yesterday @12w, found it. But the lil stinker only cooperates for all of about 10secs and it takes me a good 10-15min to find it. I have no idea where LO hides.

  • I'm not sure that I will ever feel 100% safe or comfortable because after dealing with loss for so long I just assume that something else will go wrong (I know it's sick and twisted) and that somehow I don't deserve this. My doppler, symptoms and my ultrasound pictures do bring me some comfort though.
  • Earlier on, it was my Doppler and my headaches.  Now, it's baby movements.  We've got a wiggler! lol  I know PgAL is hard, but you'll get there.  I wrote letters to my baby on my laptop on my hardest days early on during this pregnancy.  I never told anyone else about doing it, but it really seemed to help me focus and have hope.  It also helped this pregnancy feel more real after our loss history.

    All ALers welcome!
  • I feel comforted by movements too. I appreciate every day that goes by with her still squirming around in there. If it's been a half hour or so and I haven't felt her, I try to pay closer attention until I feel her move. Sometimes she does it right on cue and then I feel like it's her angel brother prodding her. :) I like that each day she is in there gives her a better chance to be ok if something goes wrong again (haven't gotten rid of that worry yet!) and she needs to be born.

  • for me, right now, it's still darkening pee sticks (my thermometer broke completely dead the day of my BFP and i'm still waiting for the replacement to come in the mail).  also, big boobs.  everything else comes and goes and is therefore making me uneasy.
