Doctor appts monthly or bi weekly?

At my last appt on Tuesday the receptionist said oh so now you'll come every two weeks said the doctor, I said ok didn't question it because I figured they know what they are doing . Today I seen a friend edd for her is August and she still goes monthly we have the same doctor. My question is are you ladies still going every 4 weeks or is it now 2 weeks ? According to my knowledge everything seems normal just wondering why I'm to go bi weekly unless there was a mistake of some sort.

Perhaps a mistake!? I'm high risk, AMA carrying twins & I'm currently seeing my OB & MFM specialist monthly. I think this will change in about 6 weeks or so, not really sure! I would suggest placing a call to your OB office for clarification though!

  • From my knowledge everything is normal but yes I'll check on Monday just made me think like did I miss something here ?
  • I was told I would be monthly until the last trimester.

Yeah, I would definitely call and check. It seems way too early to start going every other week. I don't start biweekly visits until week 28 and I think that is pretty much the norm.

  • Agree with PPs - for low risk PGs, you don't switch to 2 weeks until the end. I'm still going every 4 weeks.

I had an a/s and appt on wednesday this week. My next appt will be in 4 weeks, but after that my doc drops it down to 3 weeks for a few visits then down to two weeks. Im 20 weeks today (but measured 22 at appt).
  • I'm every 4 weeks, then 2 weeks starting at 28 weeks.

  • My doctor said every 4 weeks until the 3rd tri as well. Maybe the receptionist just made a mistake? I'd call and check next week!

Does your OB have a website? Mine has an FAQ posted on theirs that includes their basic list of visits, lab tests they usually require, weight gain guidelines, etc. Since every OB seems to have a different policy, I'd say call if there's nothing online. (BTW: I totally do the same thing. If my doctor or the receptionist schedules something, I always say "ok!" and then realize after I've left the building that I had questions.)
    • Average number of appointments is 13 total.
    • Schedule your first appointment at 6–10 weeks from the start of your last period.
    • Visit every 4 weeks until 28 weeks.
    • Visit every 2 weeks from 28 –35 weeks.
    • Visit every week after 35 weeks until delivery.
    • The visit between 24 and 28 weeks includes a screen for diabetes.
ETA: this is the appointment schedule from my OB's website.

  • Thanks ladies I really didn't think about it until I visited with a friend who's also pregnant and seeing the same doctor. I'm going to call Monday morning hoping there was just a mix up with the scheduling like @theresat858 said I'm sure if know if something were wrong hopefully .
