    I think anyone who uses the pull out method as birth control (as in they reaaallllyyyy don't want to get pregnant) lacks some serious knowledge of human physiology.

    False. At least in my case. Been using this "method" for 6 years and had not one "oops". Didn't get pregnant until we started trying.

    of course an anecdote... I didn't think anyone could pooooossibly have an anecdote

    well I have one too....I know someone who got pregnant using the pull out method who genuinely  didn't want to get pregnant and thought that pull-out would work

    ~~~~~~~quote box sucks~~~~~~~~
    We used the pull out method sometimes while trying since it seemed to work for others. We figured it was worth a shot! Maybe trick the body. But after struggling for almost 3 years not pulling out worked much better. ;)
  • @MarBee1214‌ is it bad that I had to look up the word anecdote. My schooling has failed me. ::facepalm:: I do realize my "method" isn't very.. reliable? And yea.. like @slmille4‌ said..it's probably dumb. I'm actually surprised myself that it's actually worked this long.
  • An UO from my street these past couple warmer weeks.  I cannot see how it is acceptable to let 3-5 year old children free range on the street with no parents in sight.  Our street is a large cul-de-sac so we don't have lots of through traffic, but there are still plenty of cars that drive faster than I like around it.  Every day you can find at least 5 kids playing in the roadway, and they give attitude when you try to slowly drive through them.  These kids are at the most 8 years old, and some of them have their younger siblings with them that I would guess are as young as 3 years old.  There are no parents anywhere in sight, no adults outside the houses anywhere on the street.
    If they were playing on their own lawns I don't think it would bother me as much, but they stand in huddles in the middle of the bloody road!
    "False" is the wrong word to use in this situation. Sure, it has worked for you. But she didn't say "the pull out method never works." Your entire statement here is invalid in terms of what @slmille4 (ETA to fix quote fail) actually wrote.
    @peanutmuse‌.. After re-reading I see you are correct. False didn't make any sense in regards to what @slmille4‌ said. I think I was quick to reply being that it's a method that hasn't failed us yet (knock on wood). Like I said in my later post...I agree it's a unreliable and pretty dumb to view it as a full proof pregnancy prevention. And now after talking about it watch it now fail me.. after all these years. ;)
    I hope this isn't unpopular! That is way too young to be roaming free on the streets.
  • I guess my opinion seems unpopular in my area which is why I posted it. I really hope in general it isn't unpopular.
    I just want to chime in and add that my doctor actually suggested breastfeeding and the pull out method for birth control. LOL To be fair all other BC options weren't a good fit for us and we will want another fairly close together. He said I would likely not get pregnant for 6 months, but if I do then oh well. Ha
