Timing for OPK testing?

Hello there!

I am new here - this is only my second posting - so I am still learning (A LOT)

I am wondering about timing for OPKs. Everywhere I read I get a different answer on when I should be testing. Some say between 2 and 8pm, some say noon to 6, some say 1-7 and some also say second morning urine. So many different answers are confusing - and I don't know when I really should be testing.

What do the instructions say? Are you testing more than once a day?
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.

  • Whoops! Guess I should have put a little more info in here.

I am using the Wondofo strips - so the instructions do not give info on timing.

From CD5-CD11 I was only testing once a day, around 5pm when I got home from work. Starting on CD12 I started testing twice a day (2pm & 8pm). With growing anxiety I started testing three times a day from DC16 (First morning urine, 2pm and 8pm).

Wondering if I should be switching to second morning urine and maybe just once in the afternoon?

At this point I am on CD22 and I haven't gotten a positive.

This is just what works for me. I have no idea if this will work for you.
I try to test twice a day on days I think I might catch a positive.

I get up for work around 6:15 and pee. I go to work and I *might* pee when I get around 8:15ish or so, but usually not.

Later, I pee around 11-11:30. That's when I test.  This is usually my second morning urine, but not always.

I pee again sometime after lunch, but I try to wait until at least 1:30. Sometimes it ends up being after 2pm. Anyway, during this first after-lunch-pee, I test again.

These are the best times for me to catch a positive. Sometimes I have two days of positives, but only at these times. I've tried earlier in the day, and I've tried later later.

So far, I've been able to catch 1-2 positive OPK days every cycle.

    ETA: I use Wondfos.

When I first started using them, I started in the evening when I got home, and that wasn't working for me. I was trying to avoid testing at work, but once I started testing at work when I could, I was able to find what worked for me and create a loose bathroom schedule.
