Mommas that have had thrush...?

I had thrush with DS2 when he was a week old.  It all came about as my nips were getting used to nursing again so I thought the pain was just my body transitioning, but it turns out it was thrush pains.
Today all of a sudden I have pain in one breast, near the aereola/nipple.  It felt like it came on fairly suddenly, is uncomfortable all the time and a little stabby. I have no lumps, fever or other symptoms of illness so I don't think it's a blocked duct or mastitis.
I guess my question is does thrush come on quick like this? LO doesn't have any spots in his mouth or other symptoms of yeast that I can tell.  It's only been about 7-8 hours since I noticed the pain.
I really hope this isn't thrush again and was just a weird nursing session that is causing some pain.

  • @MarBee1214 - I first noticed the pain while nursing, but it stayed consistently for the rest of the day.  I still feel a little bit of it today, but it is less than yesterday. No pink nipples here.  Maybe he just had a lazy latch and it's taking a while to recover? I don't see any other signs of trauma.  It's weird.

  • I did not have thrush but definitely get weird pains some days. I keep googling thrush symptoms but then by the time I go to call my OB the pain subsides. I AM NOT HELPFUL.

Basically, it's been my BFing experience that there are lots of weird pains that mean nothing and it hurts my logical bones.

  • Lo and I kept giving it back and forth in the beginning and yes, it would suddenly come on for me. Most of the time my nips were bright pink but sometimes not. Get yourself a Rx of APNO (ask your OB or LC). It will get rid of the thrush or whatever it is quickly. It can have a little bit of a numbing effect (but it won't feel weird) so it will help whatever's going on.
