Food adversion

I will be 16 weeks on Sunday. We have an appointment on Monday so I plan to talk to the OB as well but I am pretty sure they can't do anything.

Last pregnancy it was just chicken. I could not be near it. But this time around it is all food. It is just unappealing. I am having a really hard time eating anything and most of the time just force myself to eat something but it is like chewing on cardboard. I was really hoping it would fade now that we are moving into the 2nd trimester. 

Anyone had this and had it go away at some point?

  • I am going through it now. First tri I was good for the most part. Now I don't want food. I have to tell myself that it is for the baby a few times just to eat something.

    I mentioned it to my OB and she said that it is normal. I am just worried now about not eating enough and losing weight. So I am thinking about calling and see what they say.

    DH has agreed that I need to eat more. So we are going to focus on snack foods. Loke baby carrots, and other veggies, string cheese, stuff that does not take a lot of prep and gets me in and out of the kitchen pretty quickly.

    Yesterday, I was so hungry and walked into the kitchen for something to eat (at least 6 to 7 or more times). Start to coygh, which then lead to dry heaving, which lead to me going to the couch to relax and calm myself down.

    So I would say take the snack idea and also keep OB/MW update on what you are experiencing.

  • I do a lot of snack stuff as well. Unfortunately it seems most of the snack stuff is unhealthy. Campbells soups to go, lunchables, some fruit is ok, I have recently added almonds and mixed nuts to the list. 

    @sockgnome78 I hope it passes soon for both of us.

    My food aversions during 1st tri were TERRIBLE! Luckily they have gotten slightly better in the past few weeks, so I'm able to tolerate a bit more! The smell of certain foods especially chicken still send me running! I think snacks albeit maybe not the healthiest are better than nothing at all. GL to you gals & I hope you find some relief very soon!

  • I had this really bad. It caused me to lose weight last tri. Now I'm hungry all the time but I can't fit very much in. I had horrible aversions to almost everything except grilled cheese and apples until a week ago. I still want nothing to do with chicken.

    I was so exited to enter my 2nd tri with hopes that it will go away i'm currently 19 weeks and its just as bad as it was at 8 weeks the only thing that I can eat is watermelon and boy with it not quite being in season its a expensive habit I also from time to time crave sub sandwiches other than that its a no go I'm forcing myself to eat I cant even drink bottle water I have to buy the little flavor shots I would for just 1 day love to eat a great meal and enjoy It sometimes I pretend my watermelon is a steak or burger lol I lost about 15 pounds after my dr scolded me and gave me about 3 different meds I just make my self eat bc I know I have too within the last 3 weeks ive gained 3 pounds

  • I am sorry you ladies are also dealing with this.  Watermelon does sound kinda good. Maybe I just need to hit the produce section and try some random stuff. 

    Last night I dreamed about smoothies and I've never liked them so maybe I should try that LOL
