Hard water question (sorry about the boring post)

We have super hard water. All of my bottles are very foggy as a result. Is anyone else in the same boat? I'm looking for a baby safe solution. We use lime away on our shower but obviously I can't use that lol

Re: Hard water question (sorry about the boring post)

  • @MarBee1214‌ I hand wash maybe 25% of the time and use the dishwasher the rest. Dang it.

  • Do you use a rinse aid? Mine can be cloudy if I don't. Detergent residue freaks me out, so I end up rinsing out by hand.

Random and has nothing to do with this thread, but I apparently downloaded a chrome extension a long time ago called "Cloud to Butt" and forgot all about it. Marbee's comment was very funny reading about butty bottles instead of cloudy bottles.

anytime the word "c.l.o.u.d" is on the web, it changes it to "butt" Had to put the periods in between the letters so it wouldn't change it to butt on my computer. It makes reading the weather very interesting

    Link if interested:

ETA i'm assuming you wrote c.l.o.u.d. in your post but again I got confused because it changed it to butt.

If you soak them in vinegar, they should look as good as new.

  • Thanks ladies. I'll pick up a rinse aid next time I make it to the store. Think I will try vinegar tonight.

  • The vinegar works ime. We have hard water and a crappy dishwasher so my medela bottles were all cloudy and gross after being washed. I soaked them in water with a bit of method dish soap and vinegar -- they came out sparkling clean.

  • I soaked in vinegar and water then ran everything through the dishwasher sanitizer option. Much better.

  • More work, but I hand wash and sanitize my bottles. Never through the dishwasher and I've never had a problem. If have the dr browns sanitizer.

  • Mine are better when I hand wash using a brush with the sponge at the end. It's a Dr Browns bottle cleaner I think.
