What do you do if your DCP is sick?

J goes to a sitter in her home, who has been sick.  Our only back-up is MIL who is also sick!  We don't have any other family or friends who don't work our same hours.  Today DH and I worked it out by alternating half days, but neither works are happy.  (I have 3+ weeks of comp time but after maternity leave I'm not getting the now is the time to take it vibe)

What do you all do?  Set up some sort of back-up back-up?

  • Ultimately my mom could be back up (she watches Sabrina one day a week), but if DCP is closed or sick, DH or I will take the day off. Same if Sabrina herself is sick. My employer is pretty family friendly, and DH's is usually understanding as well.

  • My mom is my DCP, and has never taken a sick day...in 7 years.

But yeah, I'd have a back up for my back up...or I'd take sick time.

  • i allways have to take it off. my boss doesnt like it, but oh well , its always a day or two.

  • My DCP has a helper so that one will be there if she's sick.  I haven't had them both sick but if I had to work my IL's would come up and help out.
