hair pulling

My LO has started to pull her OWN hair...I just noticed this the last few days. I was curious to see if anyone else's LO was doing this as well?

  • LO went through a phase of pulling his own hair at five months.  I asked the pediatrician (because I was concerned he was actually grabbing at his head and maybe in pain), and he said that it is just something they do to self soothe sometimes or it could be that he is discovering it.

  • Mine has a few times but I think it was a discovery thing. But she pulls mine all the time and it hurts soooooo bad. How is it possible that she can hurt me so much, she is so little!
  • Dd doesn't have hair but she scratches her. Of course I instantly think lice and other ridiculous thing.

  • DD does this only whe she is BFing ... It's to soothe herself to sleep. It's been going on for a few months now.

  • DS loves to play with hair - his or anyone else's. He likes to pet his own head to self-soothe. He's always been fascinated by hair, and when DH laid him on the bed one day and put his head down so that DS could actually touch DH's hair, it was hilarious! He was like "what is this!?"

She pulls her hair all the time. I've never seen her actually pull it out though.

  • Same here. When she's mad or trying to sleep.
  • Mine does it when she's tired and BFing. I think she does t to fight sleep, along with her "singing".
