WDYD with baby if you have to go back to the hospital (bleeding)?

I am bordering on late postpartum hemorrhage. My MW said if it continues I need to go to the ER. What the heck do you do with the baby? LO is 12 days old and exclusively BF. Can I bring him? Seems like a horrible place for a baby, but I don't have a stash yet. Yikes!

  • I would take LO with me. I don't see why if you're in the hospital they can't give you a bassinet to keep the baby with you. Especially while beginning to establish your supply and all. DD would definitely be coming with me

  • LO would come with so I could feed her...though I would try my damndest to keep her out of the waiting room of the ER...or at least wear her/keep others paws off her in there.

The hospital should have a bassinet and a pump. Also, I was told with ds that if I were to be readmitted (I had pre e that didn't go away after delivery) that ds would be allowed to come with since I was his food source. Might be hospital specific, but you can ask.

  • My BP skyrocketed 6 days pp and I had to go to the ER. Had no choice but to take LO with me. It was horrible! The waiting room was full of very sick people. Kept LO in his car seat and covered with the canopy. Best we could do at the time. Maybe if you could have someone watch LO even in the car till you get past the ER.

This happened to SIL and I believe that my nephew went back to the hospital with her.  Ditto PPs who said to call and ask.

    Good luck!

  • I had to go in to get my leg checked for a blood clot. I left LO at home with his dad, but I did also have breastmilk in the fridge for bottles if he needed them while I was gone. If I hadn't had the milk and/or had to be admitted I would've brought him with me.

Thanks ladies! I am hopeful the worst is over, but I definitely need to have a plan in place. He would come with me for sure.
