Completely stumped on girl names

Ok, so I'm not a message board type person, and yet here I am.  I am at a serious loss for names.  My oldest is Ellise (nn Elli), and my son Gabriel passed away last year the day after his first birthday.  My husband and I thought we were done at two (for a while at least because I am heading to grad school), however, after much thought we decided we didn't want to wait until Elli was 7 to try to give her another sibling, so here we are, expecting number 3 in August.

We are not finding out the gender of this baby, but seem to have a boy name decided on. The girl name is where I am completely stumped.  My husband likes Carys, mostly because it means Grace, but I am not sold on that whatsoever.  The MN will likely be Joy which is my MN.  Any suggestions, would be so appreciated... Thanks all.

Sorry, yes, you are correct, the C spelling means love, it is the K version that means "grace" in Greek.  My mistake!

I am so sorry for your loss. What about Gabriella in honor of your angel baby? Or Grace since your husband likes that meaning? What are some names or the style that you like?

Here are some of my favorites, though I don't know if they'll be to your liking: Rose, Violet, Scarlett, Lydia, Lyra, Serena, Jane, Katherine, Luna, Lily

Here's a list of names that mean grace (or some variation of that): https://www.meaning-of-names.com/search/index.asp?nm=grace&stype=1

  • One of the posters on TTGP has a daughter named Miriam Joy which I think is lovely. I think it fits as a sibset with Ellise.

PS. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thanks all for your input and suggestions.  I don't think I necessarily have a "style," other than "not trendy."  I literally shoot down everything my husband suggests.  The boy name I finally was OK with was Wes, my husband's first choice.

Some of the girl names I haven't completely axed are Paige, Samantha, Natalie (after my grandmother, although my sister seems to have staked claim to that one), and of course my husband's favorite, Carys.  With Paige, I'd have to come up with a different middle name, but that's not a big deal.  So yeah, I don't necessarily have a style, I am all over the map.

  • Just wondering, do you pronounce it Care-iss or Car-iss?

    Care-iss, rhymes with Paris.
