Frustration with Doctors- unsure what to do

Over the past few days I have been having some decreased fetal movement.  I am 38 weeks and know that things will slow down due to cramped quarters.  However I can go many hours without being able to complete my kick counts.  I have tried all the usual tricks to get him moving but nothing seems to work.  I go twice a week for non stress testing and have even gone in extra due to my concern.  The Dr always says that things look good but my gut just keeps telling me that something isn't right.  When he hooks up to the machines he will move a little more but not like the little guy I am used to.  How am I supposed to stay sane sitting at home not being able to feel my little guy moving around inside.

  • Have they done an ultrasound to actually see that everything is ok? Can you request one, for your own peace of mind? If the NSTs are fine and you're still worried, it might be worth it.

My first 2 were born at 37 weeks so when I was 38 1/2 weeks along with my 3rd I contacted my provider because I was having contractions. She immediately asked about movement and I mentioned that I hadn't felt the baby in a week and a half even after having a soda (which I only drink water). Obviously this brought up alarms & she said because I had never been that far along its either how my body responds or something was wrong. I immediately had to go to the ER for monitoring and the baby was perfectly healthy! I went another week without feeling movement before she arrived. I had a posterior placenta too but I think because my babies tend to be small their movements are less noticeable and when they desend at the end it's even less. Just wanted to provide a positive story.
