Advice please :)

I am 16 weeks 3 days...So I was hoping that we could find out the sex at 18 weeks 4 days because family from out of town will all be together for our nephews birthday and I wanted to announce the sex, but my doctor shut me down. He did say that I could go to an ultrasound place that will gender for $75 if I really want to know.

So what do you think? Should I just wait till the 20 week mark? Or go down and find out and plan something cute when family is together?

    If it's that important to know then pay...

    I went at 16 weeks with my second because I was just so curious. With my first and this one I waited until my a/s but they I told me with this one at 11w6d it was pretty obvious so we highly suspected. I didn't go buy anything but I felt fairly sure.

    I'd just pay for the cheapest u/s you can get that is 2d confirmation

    If you REEEAAALLLYY want your fam to know, i say pay the money. But I don't see the point in wasting it. You can buy a lot with $75...

    You want to announce the sex at a birthday party for your nephew?  Are you planning just to mention it or create some sort of spectacle? 

    Ultimately it's your call whether or not you spend the money.

    Yes it would just be something on the side while all the kids are playing but I think you have all helped me. Inside I think it would be silly to do it a couple weeks early! Thank you!

    I would be pretty pissed if you announced at my kids party, even if it was just a side thing (which will turn into a bigger thing bc people will get excited and want to talk about it) I would wait to save $ and find a different time to announce

    We thought we would find out at 12 weeks because all our friends found out at that time but they were only able to make a suggestion. We were too excited about finding out so we paid to find out the sex yesterday (our next u/s isn't until 20 weeks). It was a lot of fun and worth the money for us as it was nice to check in with the LO especially during this time when I can't really feel any movement. It's official now... we're having a GIRL! 

    As for announcing it at your nephew's party, maybe it would be best for you organize a dinner or breakfast for everyone so you can reveal the sex so you don't take attention away from your nephew on his birthday.
