Another Stroller Question - Skip the Snap N Go and go straight for City Select?

Hi!! I'm on the fence about whether or not we should get a snap n go first when my twins are first born and then get a city select once they grow out of the infant seats or just go straight for the city select and skip the snap n go? Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!!

Re: Another Stroller Question - Skip the Snap N Go and go straight for City Select?

  • I don't have any thoughts on this as my twins won't be here until November, but I am really curious of the answers. I'm wondering the same thing.

  • I vote the DSNG.  I got the BJCS with the adapters and when my kids outgrew the infant seats and we started using the stroller as just the stroller I realize how much I hated it.  I'm now trying to sell it and get a SBS.  I wish I had just got the DSNG until I knew what would work best for me when they were bigger.

I vote to get the snap n go, it makes it so much easier when you go anywhere w. the carseats to be able to snap them in and not have to wake them if they are asleep in the carseat (which seems to be all the honkin time) This is also kinda seasonal though, if you live in Chicago and the first 6 months of the babies life will be winter...then you can probably skip it as you may not go out much, but it its gonna be summer and you will be out and about a lot, then yeah for sure get the snap n go

I vote snap n go, I actually had both and ended up selling the BJCS because I hated how long it took to get setup (admittedly I'm a bit impatient...)  maybe if you have a van and can leave it put together in the back.  But I also hated how it was so hard to see the second baby because of the stadium seating (and im not a short person, but i had to stand on tippy toes to see over the other one) - as a new mom i really wanted to be able to see them easily
And there would have been no way I could have used the BJCS by myself for quite a while after my csection because of how heavy it was to lift out of the car.
  • I vote DSNG too. My twins are 1 now and we have definitely gotten our money out of it. I have used it once or twice in the last week for quick errands. I am really dragging my feet on moving them into their convertible car seats (probably doing that this weekend since my little boy is probably officially too big for the infant seat now, sigh) because it is so convenient to plop them into the DSNG. We use our DBJCS for walks, zoo visits, etc. but the DSNG is great for running errands and things like that.

  • I was thinking of skipping the DSNG as well and going straight to the BJCS. My due date is 9/5 and Michigan winters are hell... I just don't see us using it that often?
  • we were originally going to do a snap n go first, and then buy a City Mini after 6 months or so, but then discovered last week that our car seats aren't compatible with the snap n go (Britax B-Safe seats).  So...we went ahead and ordered a City Mini.  It'll be more difficult I think for the first few months when it would be much simpler to just keep them in carseats, but unfortunately we don't have any other options for our twins (since we're not exchanging our carseats - they're the only ones that fit well in my little Honda Civic!).

We have the BJCS and that's the only stroller we have.  We use the adapters with their carseats (Chicco keyfits).  My twins are 9 months old and we are still using it that way.  I haven't used the "big kid" seats yet though.  Right now we absolutely LOVE the stroller though, it is so easy to use!!!

  • I asked this question a few weeks ago.  It's a tough decision!  I ended up going with the Joovy twin roo since it is more compatible with the Chicco key fit 30 seats and we already had one of those from DS.  I had already decided on a BJCS, but then I saw that two car seats adaptors are the same price as a DSNG or joovy twin roo.  I loved how easy a snap n go was for my singleton.

I'm also now undecided if I want a double city mini or city select, so this bought me some time to decide.

I also bought the Joovie Roo and my Chico key fit seats snap in and out so easily. From what I understand the actual Snap and Go has straps fiddle with? I'm a FTM to be, so I can't speak from experience yet. But I like that if the babies fall asleep it'll be less disruptive for them to be moved seat and all.
I'm thinking the city mini double for next year, as I liked the feel of it in the store.
  • Thanks ladies for all your input, I really appreciate it! I forgot to mention at I also have a 2.5 yr old so I need to take that into consideration. I liked the fact that my toddler could potentially ride in the BJCS alongside one of the twins and then I can wear the other twin if need be. But, I think the snap n go would be so much easier in the beginning.... Decisions decisions
  • Do not skip the snap n go or Joovy Twin - I can barely lift our double stroller and fit it into our trunk with the car seat adapters (especially right after my c section), while the snap n go is so light and easy!! And yeah you will have winter but the snap n go is way better for going into stores and such.

I'd say get the double snap n go then wait and see what stroller you want after that. I am just now starting to use our double stroller as a "walk" stroller but with the real seats, not the car seats. Still using the Joovy for going out in the car, restaurants, etc.

  • We loooooove the DSNG, such a lifesaver!  We recently loaded up our double BOB for outings as well, but its a lot of space if you don't have it.

  • Can I chime in here and ask the mommas who use a DSNG if sun/light protection was ever an issue waking up their LO's? DH and I had tentatively decided on a DSNG to start with, then decide from there what to get next down the line. We went and wheeled it around in the store and even when the canopies of the carseats were pulled the babies would still seem to get a lot of light in their face. We loved our travel system with DD because when facing us, in her car seat, in the stroller, we could pull her canopy and the strollers canopy so they almost met and gave almost full sun/light protection, hence no waking up or being disturbed. Suggestions or input? DH and I saw this as a drawback to us and now we're back to the drawing board (so frustrating).

When I used my single snap n go for DS, I would just toss an A&A blanket over the carseat to avoid this issue.

  • Mt twins aren't here yet, but I got a DSNG for like $80 so I grabbed it. We will get a City Mini Double eventually, but they shouldn't need it for awhile. I looked at it cost-wise, and to buy the car seat adapters for the City Mini it was about the same price or more I think as just getting a DSNG. So it made more sense to get the DSNG in the beginning; most twin moms I know said it was what they did and they loved it.

  • Thanks ladies. An A&A blanket was what I told DH might be the solution since they're still breathable blankets. I appreciate the feedback! Deciding on a stroller has been WAY more difficult then I thought it would be.

So I use the bjcs and live for it. We got the britax infant seats bc the adaptor a for the stroller made the bjcs work like a snap n' go. The infant seats just snap into the base. I can do all kinds of configurations with it. My 2-1/2 yo in front with a stroller seat, one twin in infant car seat other in ergo. Or both twins in stroller seats (they're a year next month) but facing towards each other or facing me. I also have the stroller board for the 2-1/2 year old to stand on if the twins are in both seats. I love it. And it will grow with them.
