What approach will you be taking? I think BLW is super fun. Though it's messy but I suspect spoon feeding would be also.

  • I've been feeding LO rice cereal for a week and a half now in the morning. She hates it.

I always said I might try DS on some solids once he hit 5 months. That's today. Not sure he's ready.  Not sure I'm ready. Stressing. Probably going to wait longer.
Don't stress. You'll know when he's ready. Some people don't start until 12 months or later. Mine was having none of that, he was grabbing at food right about 5 months, we knew we couldn't stop him we could only hope to contain him.

  • Waiting till her 6 mo appt next Friday, but we're going to try BLW. I'm in no rush to start foods. I want a baby 4 Eva :)

I'm just going to spoon feed. He would probably love BLW, but I don't want to give him ANOTHER reason to put his hands in his mouth...hahaha jk, I just prefer spoon.

We'll start a combo of BLW and some purées at 6 months so we still have another month and a half.

  • We tried.  He did great the first time, but then quickly became "eh" about the whole thing.  I'm wondering if it's because he got super sick.  He's finally coming out of it, so I'll try again this weekend.

She :::might::: be ready but I haven't started yet. I don't have that feeling that I know for certain that she's ready like I did with DS. Plus I've been too lazy to pump a few ounces to add to the food/cereal

  • We tried some cereal this week and she couldn't have cared less.  I think it actually pissed her off more than anything.  I figured it was because the taste sucks but then I gave her some avocado and she wasn't interested in that, either.  We'll be trying again in a week or so.  My only concern is that I don't think she's satisfied on breast milk/formula alone right now...

  • Not yet.  She's definitely showing signs of readiness, I just haven't actually done it yet.  She'll be 5 1/2 months this weekend, so I'm thinking we may try it then.  I did let her suck on a banana the other day, & at first she made a funny face but then she tried to chomp on it, lol.  It was pretty cute & funny.

    Tried oatmeal once. Hated it.
Tried Avacado. Meh. She made silly faces and spit it out.
I am not going to try anything again any time soon. She is a boob baby all the way.

Eta: I had not planned on starting her on solids until after 6 months and than some, but she had seemed interested. She isn't even 5 months yet so still plenty of time to wait.

I voted No but we plan on starting soon. He is so ready. He love to watch us eat. We're just not sure what we want to start with... I have rice cereal, oatmeal, avocado, and sweet potatoes already in the house. L is 5 1/2 mos old.
  • We've introduced oatmeal and applesauce. But we don't do it ever day. The days we do it, it's only once that day. Meals are going to get tricky when we commit to this for real!
@SailorTink, see yeah that's pretty much what I'm thinking.  Half the reason I haven't started yet is that I realize once I do it's going to change everything & be a big commitment! The boob is so much easier, lol.
  • We started food a week and a half ago. We give him rice cereal and now some purees. He loves green beans and we tried sweet potatoes for the first time tonight. He is so enthusiastic about food--bouncing up and down and squawking for me to go faster. It's been a lot of fun.

We skipped rice cereal and went straight into purées. He loves ALL THE FOOD. He learned opening his mouth means mama will shovel food in, so now his sits there with his moth wide open starring at the baby food jar. I am nothing but a vending machine to this kid.
