Where are you buying nursery furniture?

Have you started looking at furniture yet? If so, where are you looking or where are you thinking of purchasing from?

I feel like there's not too many places to look and I'm just not sold on anything from BRU yet. I wish regular furniture stores carried nursery items.

    Ikea!

DS's room is furnished from Ikea and we've been very happy with it.  As he'll likely be in his crib for a while yet (crib for lyfe) we'll probably just buy a second of the same crib for the little lady.

  • IKEA!  We're even moving to a city that has one (score).

We will probably get a glider from somewhere else but IKEA for crib, dresser (will put changing pad on top), *maybe* some kind of bookshelves...

I'm trying to keep furniture buying to a minimum, especially since we'll most likely be moving again in the fall of 2015 depending on where my husband gets a more permanent job.

I'll probably end up getting my crib on Amazon or Wayfair and I've been hitting up local antique/refinishing shops for fun dressers which I'll also use as a changing table.

We've been lucky in not actually having to buy any nursery furniture, but if I were, it would probably come from Ikea.  We may end up buying a small dresser to double as a changing table for DS, but I'm not sure yet.  For DD's bunk beds, we're torn between Ikea and a local discount furniture store.

DD's (soon to be DS's) crib was handed down from my brother's kids, we re-purposed DH's childhood dresser for her, and had a friend build her a desk, which we used as a changing table.

  • I'm not really into the whole matchy matchy thing, so we're getting all of our furniture separate. Ikea for the dresser, probably BBB or Target for the glider, and I got a steal on a crib on Craigslist that I'm repainting. I'm also ordering a small side table from target and using a bookcase we already have. If I had a bigger budget, I'd get some Babyletto stuff!

  • Baby Bargains has a section on nursery furniture and gives ratings/reviews. I skimmed through it since we're lucky enough to not have to buy furniture.

  • PBK- Skylar crib and changer/dresser in white. DS has the same set in brown. Not sure on bedding yet for DD.

  • We are also buying most of it from Ikea (crib, dressers, and cube case).  I like the smaller sizes available, especially for a nursery.

Baby Girl "C" arrived on 10/07/14 (39 weeks, 6 days)

  • We got the crib and dresser/changer from a small local store that carries a bunch of different brands. We went with the Dutailier Pomelo crib and dresser. They are 100% wood and made in Canada.

Target... I fell in love with the Madisson furniture collection there before I was even pregnant! It's simmons brand so I feel like the quality is great for the price. I really want a glider ( the kind that looks like an arm chair) but I can't justify spend $500+ for it. I've had no luck finding anything used in my area.
  • We got a crib and rocker from BRU as a gift from my mom. We bought a dresser off of Craigslist to refinish and use as a dresser/changer.
  • The crib and dresser I like are at Walmart! Getting the glider from BRU. That's the only furniture we have room for in LOs little nursery withe lots of windows.

I'll have to check out Ikea. We don't have a big space for furniture. @sweetadeline31‌ I'm thinking about doing a vintage children's books theme!

  • We found a great local place called Nursery Time that sells Lusso furniture. We found exactly what we wanted and are waiting to install the new carpet before we order. Can't wait!

  • Thanks for the input, everyone. I'm checking each of the recommendations out.

  • I'm getting the Larkin set from pottery barn kids. I was originally going to go with something cheaper, Davinci brand. But I read so many reviews about drawers not going in smoothly, furniture wearing over time, etc. I decided it's worth it to invest in some well-made, solid wood furniture.

I'm soo glad you posted this and I can look up the recommendations because I will be looking for a new crib and our IKEA furniture is falling apart and it's only been 1 year!!

I LOVE DD's crib (bought at BBB) https://www.babyappleseed.com/stratfordcollection.html
(in white) But I am thinking we should purchase a different crib for baby #2 to distinguish their own identity within the room. They will be sharing a room for a while. I've been looking at Pottery Barn kids.

And I LOVE her bookshelf, dresser and armoire that we purchased at IKEA but the dresser is falling apart and we will need a bigger armoire for baby #2...

I have had the Larkin set from pbk for almost 2 years now and still love it! My dd did chew the crib which makes me sad every time I look at it lol! But I love it and it still looks as good as the day we bought it (except chewed part!)

  • We got our crib from Target and I love it. Using a dresser we already had with a changing pad on top. Undecided about the glider though. I wish we lived near ikea. .closest one is 4 hours away!

  • We didn't buy furniture specifically for the nursery. My son used my crib (this baby will too) it is white. When my son is older he (or whatever gender there are 2 of) will get the awesome handmade bunk beds that FIL made for DH and BIL. We got an unfinished dresser and did it to match the honey color od the bunk beds. I figured he is only in a crib for 2yrs, he is in a bed for the the other 16yrs.

A couple weeks ago we bought our crib and dresser from BRU, baby cache brand. It was delivered last week and I love it. It's very well made!

Which color did you get!? And when they deliver do they set it up?

Since someone else bumped this post, I will comment. :) DH and I went to PBK this weekend and picked out the Larkin crib, too! Still haven't made up my mind on dressers, etc. but the Larkin crib is the one. Plus, we started our registry there. It was a great day! ha!

  • I am going to buy the Hudson Babyletto crib from Amazon. We have already purchased a dresser from a local flea market and are going to refinish it and build a changing table topper for it.
  • I'm going with Babyletto. All my favorite solid wood cribs are 5k and up! Who knew smh
  • My friend is giving me a glider and a crib - both in great condition (and the crib is a convertible so becomes a toddler bed) - so I'm just trying to find dresser with top for changing table and possibly a chest (as will have this furniture for awhile) in similar cherry wood. Was looking at BuyBuy Baby and while they're pricey - my mom wants to buy (she wants to buy all the furniture - bassinet too and the layette) and she likes BB Baby - so will probably get from there. My mom wanted to buy me a whole new crib set - but I told her to save her money on crib as I had offers from friends for three different ones - no need to buy new - and put it into a baby savings account instead.

  • We are getting our crib from BRU, we got a rocker/recliner from LazyBoy, and we are going to refinish an antique dresser for changing table.

  • Honestly I got our crib from Walmart. A crib and mattress (both with exceptional reviews) for only $150. I thought it was a steal. The glider I got from my previous family I nannied for, and the dresser I'm hoping to find on the virtual yard sales, craigslist or yard sales this summer to refinish.
