Thong underwear is the worst. The only reason I suck it up and wear a pair is if I'm wearing white bottoms or a fitted dress, but I'd rather go commando.
I think greek yogurt is gross. It's the texture. I'm not usually one to be bothered by the texture of food, but greek yogurt makes me feeling like I'm shoving paste down my throat.
Early FFFC: Underwear schmunderwear, I go commando 95% of the time.
I think being gluten free or vegan or paleo, etc. just because it's a trend is stupid. If it's health related, awesome. If you're doing it so you can post pictures of your food with the hashtag #glutenfree, then you're an idiot.
I know I shouldn't but I judge my cousin's "baby lead weaning" with her daughter. She is 9 months old and I have only ever seen her eat: powdered donuts, cheese fries, regular donuts, pizza crust, spaghetti, and baby cookies/puffs. This includes both in person and in pictures. My mom and grandma have even asked me if I noticed that she doesn't eat fruits and vegetables. I'm cool with BLW but I don't think she gets the point that it is supposed to be healthy options.

Give me all the gluten!
I think I remember reading (anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) that there is no benefit to eating gluten free if your body can process gluten.
ETA: Maybe that's the problem with this country, healthy eating is considered a fad. That's not a dig at you, but it sort of sounds like it is.

There is a thing as having too much candida or yeast inside your intestinal tract making you sick and cause infections. Best way to fight that is a gluten free diet. But honestly, unless it's like a hardcore illness just eat gluten in moderation ::bring me all the bread and pasta::

I hate this! Parents act like they have no control over what they're kids eat. All I hear from my cousin in regards to what her almost 4 year old eats is "he won't eat unless we get him fries and nuggets!" Well at my moms house he eats chicken, steak, steamed carrots, broccoli, mashed potatoes, anything! Stop letting the 4 year old manipulate you..
I don't get it when people call it a clicker... it's a remote control and I will call it that until I die... (maybe put it on my headstone...)
I'm not a fan of the Beatles... I used to be... but now if they come on the radio or Pandora I skip them..
DH called it a push button when we met, I would always make fun of him and now he calls it a remote...
Along with that he calls a pacifier a fooler (he pronounces it like fuller)...maybe it is regional. I gave up on that one though cause he fought me on it. As long as we know what the other means I don't care.

Um I would side-eye this too.... Considering that none of those foods are single ingredient, how is she watching for allergic reactions? Not to mention the fact that most of it is "junk" food.
Although, I normally try not to judge lest I be judged for my own choices. Hell, I'm getting flack from my mom because I'm "feeding my baby inappropriately" since I chose to give her a banana instead of only cereal for the first 3 months. In most cases I feel like it is the formula vs. breast debate all over again on how parents chose to feed their kids. But, that being said, I'm not sure pizza is a good first food.

This was going to be my FFFC but since we are on the subject I'll go ahead and post it. My SIL posted a pick of my nephew, who was 5 months at the time, with pizza sauce smeared all over his face with a caption that said "little man and I enjoying some pizza and watching March Madness." I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but then last week she post another picture of him eating a whole piece of pizza. He just turned six months. I am majorly side eyeing her now. It took every inch of self control I had to not post a picture of DS eating baked sweet potato fingers and homemade organic bean burgers.
Also remote control for life!
As far as food fads, I think it is dumb when people post pictures of food no matter what. I will give them credit for trying to eat healthier. Any diet or lifestyle change is hard but at least they making an effort to better their lives.

LOL - how's life up there on your high horse?
Pizza is not an appropriate food for a 5 month old, but seriously, if you wanted to raise concern to your family, being pretentious about the food you choose to give your child isn't the way to go about it.

------------------------------------------- Sorry I didn't mean to sound pretentionous. It just really upsets me that she is setting my nephew up for poor health later on. I didn't post anything because I do not want to come off as pretentious or judgey. We have a very strange relationship and I have no way of even addressing the issue with her even though they are family. It's a really complicated situation.
@barista2014
For what its worth, I didn't take your comment as pretentious. I think the foods that you named would generally be considered good first foods for those doing BLW. Granted I will never make homemade organic bean burgers, but that is probably because I am way too lazy for all that.

I came off as harsh, sorry. I get where you're coming from.
I try not to judge, because lord knows I'm going to end up with the worlds pickiest toddler given how my husband used to eat. I know there's a difference between an infant and a toddler, but I still don't want to throw that kind of karma out there.
Edited to add: also sorry your family situation is complicated.
Education is a privilege, not a right. One we take for granted. And parents aren't 100% responsible to pay for college, but I think most parents want to give their kid everything they can.
College isn't for everyone and I wish they'd stop pushing it like it is, it's caused an over abundance of useless degrees and folks who are overqualified for their jobs, and too much student loan debt.
Speaking of student loans, the government needs to get their hands off them if they were private loans.
Basic education is a right, but higher education is another story. I feel like that's probably what you meant though.
I agree that college isn't for everybody and that pushing everyone to feel like they have to obtain at least a 4-year degree bastardizes blue collar jobs.

*HIGH FIVE*
Phia and any future children have or will have savings that we will start for them and add to throughout their lives. Once they are 17, they get to make the decision on what to do with that money as long as it goes towards either education or another wise investment (ie: a car, keep it in savings until they're older, move it to a different type of account, etc). Ideally, we'd love our kids to get academic and/or athletic scholarships to get the best of both words (have their own little nest egg and get an education...if that's what they want). But, DH and I do not want to take out parent loans if college is NOT what they want to do or if they haven't demonstrated that academics are important to them. Why send a kid to college if they hate school and have no clue what they want to do with their lives? Waste of money. After high school the options are: college, trade school, go right to work if the trade is already established, join the military.
@Smilz4782 if you mean we are privileged in America to access a public education system I agree. Basic education is a human right IMO. As far as a hierarchy of needs it's not on the same plane as safe drinking water or access to medical care, but a right nonetheless.
@braasche1 Bring back the trade schools!! We need skilled plumbers, welders, electricians, auto mechanics and I don't even know what else! Nursing used to be a two year focused schooling. Now it's 4+ with hoops and restrictions... Not every office worker needs 4 years +, we need managerial schools and secretarial.schools...we need people.who can actually WORK. My older brother didn't go a day of his.life to college that I remember. He makes more than my two BA dh traveling and doing.something with phones/cables...when Verizon does a big update, he's there. Anyway. We also need people entering the work force before they're 30!! [climbs off.soapbox]

You hit the nail on the head. Adding to what you said, there are TONS of jobs in skilled labor trades, but no one to hire because very few opt for a usefull skillset rather than going to college. If M grows up and wants to aquire a skillset, and make $40/hr as a professional welder, rather than go to college, then I'm perfectly fine with that.
That's what my husband did. He spent 6 thousand on a trade school education and makes more a year than most. As long as my child graduates high school and does SOMETHING I'll be more than satisfied! Job, college or trade school. Can't be useless. We are saving for his future but if he wants to spend 6 thousand on trade school and has left over money then it's a down payment on a car or a house or living expenses.
Edit add that my husbands company is short 100 welders right now. The trades are definitely desperate for employees.
@fitmama418 words right outta my mouth!! Both dh and I have two siblings each. 2/3 of us went to college. That other 1/3 it's not the right fit for, I would have hated our parents to force it and waste their money or loan money or scholarship money.
My parents went into debt sending my oldest brother to college for 5 years to party and have a beach house...and he never graduated. Same for my sister (but she only went for 1 year). Now, my brother is a plumber and does super well for himself. My sister got very lucky by getting a job with a great company and working her way from an entry level temp job to a management position.
SCOTUS defines K-12 free education in this country as a right. It's also a right under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. So it's pretty pointless to argue that it's not a right.
Post-secondary ed should also not be a "privilege" given that the vast majority of jobs cannot be done with a HS diploma. I tend to think it should be covered 100% by the federal government through a 4-year degree or the completion of a trade program, like most European countries do. Eliminate the ability for for-profit colleges and loan companies/banks to prey on students (particularly those that are from disadvantaged backgrounds, as the case tends to be) and open the doors to all students to get a quality degree in one fell swoop. Added bonus: pumping billions of dollars in revenue back in to the economy bc millions of 20-40 year olds won't be saddled with so much debt that they aren't buying houses, having families, or buying stuff.
Six years of infertility and loss, four IUIs, one IVF and one very awesome little boy born via med-free birth 10.24.13.

I think I'm kind of with you on this, and as you pointed out, it impacts the economy as a whole.
I don't think the government should just pay for every knucklehead to go to college. I think kids should display the interest and aptitude in order to go, while others can choose a trade to learn. I believe that is the general idea in place in other countries - you test into university - though I honestly don't know how it works (or doesn't) in practice.
But then again, I very much see healthcare as a human right so YMMV.
Me too. But beyond it just being a human right, it's far cheaper to have open access to healthcare and saves our economy (again) billions of dollars.

No opinion follows, just a statement of fact. DH graduated Berkeley (undergrad) with no debt. FIL worked a blue collar union job and was able to pay for his education and MIL never worked. They also paid for his graduate degree (CSUF).
A little more than a decade after H's graduation from Berkeley the cost of attendance is about 4 times what it was then. Assuming A was accepted there today and took 4 years to complete his studies we would be looking at $120,000 for a degree from a public university (including room and board, books, etc). That's a cost that DH and I, both working at fairly high-paying white collar jobs, would struggle to manage.
Here's my UO...stems from something I witnessed during lunch today. People that walk up/down moving escalators...maybe it's because this powerwalker lady made the little old guy with the cane try to walk to get out of her way, but it annoyed me. Plus, I'm such a klutz, I'd probably trip and fall if I tried it.
@braasche1 how can you go commando most of the time? Especially in jeans? I can just picture pinching and chaffing.. sounds painful and uncomfortable.. Maybe I'm missing something..
Just to revisit the discussion about basic human rights, I really think it's dangerous to say education and healthcare don't qualify.
In some parts of the world it is difficult, if not impossible, for girls to attend school. Do we just shrug our shoulders and say, okay, that's cool if that's the way you want to do things? Eff that! We encourage them to adopt the view that all members of society are entitled to a certain level of education and put protections in place to offer that. If we agree every citizen has the right to vote (which is sometimes revoked for felons) then we want that citizenry to be functionally literate at the very least.
I hate it when people think things like cinnamon rolls and donuts are breakfast food. They are desserts, people! Same goes for waffles and pancakes with tons of sugary food on top (syrup, whipped cream, etc.).
They. Are. Desserts. Stop eating them for breakfast.

Ice-cream sundaes, that's the breakfast of champions, right? I have one every now and then. That's why so fat.

In DC, there's a "rule" about escalators in the Metro: stand right, walk left. I have no problem letting tourists know they need to move to the right (within reason; I wouldn't tell an old man with a cane). But, if it's not the culture where you are, or if it's a single escalator, not a double, it's kind of douchey to expect everyone in front of you to squeeze to the side so you can get by.
What bugs me the most is that this is at a medical facility, so these people that are here, aren't feeling good...and, it's all single escalators. As an employee, it's drilled into us to respect patients, so maybe that's my real UO, fellow employees, be kind to others, or I'm giving you the stink eye!

I used to work a cafe and kids would come in and ask their parents if they could have a brownie or cookie for breakfast. Without fail the parents would say no but you can have a chocolate muffin. **face palm**
