  My OB stated from my 1st appt that I'd be sent to the MFM for the anatomy scan. It would definitely be worth the peace of mind to get checked out by an MFM.

  I'm also mono/di and will only go to a specialist if problems arise. We have an MFM at our office so it's not a problem if I want to be seen or they feel I should be. It's not automatic, though.

  Also, my OB wants to see me every 4 weeks but I'm going to push for every 2 weeks at my next appointment, when I'll be 20 weeks.

  My OB had me go to MFM for my 20 week scan. They then conferred and we all decided that I would stay w. my OB. Later on ( like 30 weeks) I met w. them again due to gestational diabetes and cholestasis of pregnancy and they took over at 34 weeks since I was having so many problems.

   POS+April 2009-M/c May 2009, POS+July 2009-M/c Aug 2009, POS+ Novemeber 2009 -Baby Boy Charlie DOB 07/06/2010, POS+July 2011-M/c and D&C Aug 2011, POS+Dec 2011 -Baby Boy Ethan DOB 07/27/2012, POS+Aug 2013-TWIN BOYS! Jack and Miles born March 23rd 2014!!

  If the OB is brushing your concerns off, you should advocate for yourself and ask for explanations...like why he is not concerned. I saw the MFM at least monthly the first half of my pregnancy. He was a long drive away so the rest of my appointments were done at my normal office with the notes and results forwarded to him.

  If you are concerned, then yes, definitely push the issue! Everyone gets monitored differently but I would think with twin pregnancy if you want to see an MFM then you should be able to do so.

  We saw a specialist at 10 weeks to confirm we were mo-di rather than mo-mo, because my OB couldn't see the dividing membrane with his ultrasound equipment. We then started monitoring with the MFM at 18 weeks and had scans every 2-3 weeks to monitor for TTTS. We also had a 16 week ultrasound, but that wasn't with the specialist.

  Married 8/2008. IVF with PGD March 2013.
  3/22 ER: 25R, 20M, 15F. 9 genetically normal, and 3 survived to Day 5
  3/27 ET: transferred 1 embryo, beta 9dp5dt=163, 12dp5dt=639
  4/25 1st ultrasound at 7 weeks = identical twins with heartbeats?!!!

  PPROM at 31w, delivery at 32 weeks of two beautiful girls

  My OB told me right at the beginning that I should see a specialist. I started at 16 weeks I think, and went every 3 weeks for awhile, then it increased to 2 and then once a week at the end. It definitely gave me peace of mind to have so much monitoring.

  Please go see a MFM!!! I was mono di and was scheduled for scans every two weeks starting at 16 weeks to check for TTTS. Luckily made it to 36 weeks with minimal complications but it is soooo important to get seen early and often as it can happen very quickly. Good luck to you!

  Me (37) DH (39); PCOS changed to Unexplained, changed to DOR in 2012 (finally a correct diagnosis!); 

  Started TTC 2009 with RE after 6 months.  

  Clomid + Trigger x2; 

  IUI + Femara x1,

  IUI + Follistim x2;

  IVF #1 (MDL) February 2013- BFN.

  IVF #2 (antagonist) May 2013, First BFP of my life. 

  Identical twin miracle BOYS (!!) headed our way- due date is technically 2/4/14 but c section is scheduled for 1/7!

  I am having di/di twins, and am being comanaged by an ob and a mfm. I see my mfm every 4 weeks, starting at 12 weeks and my ob every 4 weeks (basically alternating so I see one of them every 2 weeks). At some point the visits will become more frequent.
