New here: Son with Down Syndrome

Hi there all,

I wanted to finally introduce myself, my name is Susan, I am 26 and I have one son who's name is Vincent. He turned 1 on March 27th, and he has down sydrome. 

I wanted to try to connect with other moms who have a child with down sydrome, I realized I felt very alone in this journey. Is there anyone else here that does or can suggest a good place to? I want to connect with all of you too, just would be nice to find someone with that as well :)

I realized how alone I felt when I went to a baby shower, and there were other kids his age running everywhere...and he is still working on sitting up solidly. 

I hope to get to know you all, and I hope you will accept me into your village here :)

    @-auntie- They are! They have brushfield spots, so they look a little different. I put a comparison to mine to show seeing they are the same color.

    Congratulations!!!  He is absolutely adorable!

    I have 2 boys with a different genetic mutation, DS1 is almost 4 and almost 2.  They are globally delayed with hypertonia and have been in PT, OT and ST for years.

    There are a bunch of moms whose children have Down Syndrome on this board, give it time and they will come in.

    ETA:  Babycenter has a Down Syndrome board that is quite active

    Hello. I have a son born on 3/8/13 that has down syndrome. I have had to stop reading the emails on what baby is doing each week because it's a constant reminder of what ds is not doing.

     Have you contacted a support group? My local group has been a great source of support and information.

    Our boys are only 19 days apart then! How cool! 

    I haven't contacted anyone, I live far from a lot of things like that and in the middle of nowhere. But I will see what there is :)

    Hi Susan,

    Welcome.

    My DS has ASD, but I can for sure relate to having a hard time seeing where he *should* be vs where he is. I love D with all my heart, but this is not a path I ever imagined for him (or us).

    He is absolutely precious!!! My kids have ASD and Tourrettes but I have a sister with Down syndrome. I can also relate to feeling alone and like no one understands, maybe just in a different way then you :) hugs!

    Welcome! I just gave birth on 4/29 to my second child (a little boy) who has DS. I try to go to the babycenter DS board.

    Hey, I'm way delayed in my response! My little guy has DS and was born on 2/12/14. He also has Tetralogy of Fallot and we are recovering from his OHS. I mainly hang out on the March 2014 board but pop in from time to time. Your boy is gorgeous. I adore my little guy.
