I need a list

Many of us have missed or had a late period, not due to pregnancy. Mine is 3 days late, working on day 4. I've had the severe cramps, headaches, backache, and all the mess that comes with my period...without actually starting. I haven't taken a HPT yet, but I do not feel like I did a year ago, and though it IS possible to get pregnant while using a condom, it didn't break and there was no fooling around without one, I just don't think my chances are that high.

So, I need a list of reasons why AF is hiding out, and how many reasons I might need to call my gyn about.

Because you ovulated late this cycle.

Please do not call your obgyn because you are a few days late.

I dunno. Maybe because that's normal?

what's the deal people. It's not a money back guarantee that you're going to get a period every 28 days after the body just went through almost a year of crazy hormones.

I should have put in my original post that I know I'm being stupid. I actually was more concerned about the cramping--without a reason, I guess. I know I'm not the first "late" one, too, and thought it might be helpful for others who are late to have some reasonings other than pregnancy, or if there are any...like cysts that you may need to call about.

The vast majority of cysts resolve on their own sans medical intervention. Breakthrough bleeding is usually a bigger concern than idiopathic cramping in terms of cysts and uterine fibroids; that will get you an ultrasound.

4 days late with cramping may simply be that this period is taking a greater toll on your body, your lining may be thicker this month, larger hormonal changes, etc......

Agree with others than 4 days "late" isn't a big deal and there could be many many normal reasons for it. But I would take a test, personally. Also, what period is this PP? When I got mine back with my first 2 kids, it took time for it to regulate.

  • well I have PCOS so usually if I had cramping but no period it was because my body was "trying" (unsuccessfully) to ovulate.  Some people do feel cramping during ovulation.  But that said, the idea of being a "few days late" is pretty funny to me, since I sometimes had 80 day cycles, & nothing remotely reliable like that.  I would guess you probably just ovulated later than normal.

  • I'm still super irregular. I barely know when to expect my period, even though I'm on the pill. Although I've been getting them more often than normal, instead of being late. I think it's all just part of your body regulating itself after baby.

  • Stress could be a reason why it's late too. My periods have been so irregular since LO. It probably will come any day now.
  • Oh it's just a dumb app that was just counting out the 28 days from my previous one and showing me my fertile window. I remember thinking I was ovulating about a day after it said due to (ew: cervical mucus).

I don't check my temp or chart as someone TTC. I don't even understand most of the stuff I've read on here from the girls who have TTTC.
