November 2014 Moms

I feel so dumb..

My boyfriend's mother got us one of those huge very nice strollers at a yard sale. It looked practically new and clean (although I will probably end up lysol and febreezing it) But since it was used it didn't come with instructions. We spent an ENTIRE FREAKING HOUR trying to figure out how to fold it up again. And it turned out to be so simple

Yay for first time parenthood and trying to figure out baby gear...and being an apparent moron

Lord help us and our child...

Re: I feel so dumb..

  • Haha, that sounds like something I would do.  I remember with DS's stroller, you had to press a button & a clamp at the same time, & the whole thing easily collapsed.  Well, my Mom & her husband used it to take him to the mall by themselves, & they spent 20 minutes in the parking lot trying to figure it out until some random people felt sorry for them & offered to help & figured it out in a couple minutes.  It was funny :)  It happens!  Congrats on the nice stroller!

  • You are so not alone. We got a pack-and-play last summer at a garage sale. Same as you, clean, barely/never used, but no info. We spent so long trying to put it up, but the sides kept falling. It wasn't until my best friend came over and was like, 'oh, you just yank up as hard as you can'. There we were worried we would break it, and she slams it together in less than a minute.

Oh dear... This makes me worry about how I'll be able to function with all the baby gear we'll be acquiring :)  Our poor babies are in for a treat!!!

  • Too funny... That reminded me of the time when we got to 'test drive' a fancy Teutonia stroller when I was prego with K. I used to work for Graco and they own the Teutonia brand. We were on our way from the office building to the car and realized we had no idea how to fold that beast. And looking at instructions on their website did not help. It took help from 5 coworkers to finally figure it out...

I ended up getting a City Mini and needless to say, no issues ever folding that sucker... :)
  • Lol this happened to my mom and me! My friend gave me the baby car seat with the stroller that goes with it. We could not figure out how to put it back up. Probably spent 30 minutes in the driveway trying to figure out the stroller.

  • I'm a FTM, but I used to work for Baby Jogger (back in the day) so I've had my experience around strollers, and I wouldn't be embarrassed. Those things can be tricky! ESPECIALLY when they're "so easy."

The first time we traveled with the pack-n-play, I had to Google why I couldn't get the bars at the top to latch. (You have to latch all the top bars first, the push the bottom down. If you push the bottom down first, the bars don't latch.)

And my mom was like "just put him in there!", while I was trying to figure it out. No mom, I'm not going to put my baby down for a nap in something that looks like it's about to collapse!

  • Been there done that.  We rented a stroller from an outside company during our Disney World trip a few years ago and couldn't figure out how to fold it.  Myself, hubby and my dad all tried.  We finally called the company, it was crazy easy and we all felt foolish :)
