DS is having a birthday party in June and I have some family coming in from out of town for his party. We have a small 2 bedrm/2 bath condo and my sister, brother in law and niece will be staying with us. I have another brother and niece that already made arrangements to stay in a hotel and some other family members going to the hotel route. SO's sister and his niece will be coming as well and she hasn't mentioned where she will be staying, so I assume that she will stay with us. With the party being three weeks away, I need to bring this up. Do I mention that we will have a crowded house and offer to buy an air mattress and make more room? Do I suggest she get a hotel? If we go the hotel route, do we pay for her stay there since she's coming out of town? Any advice would be helpful.
Re: NWMR: What is the right thing to do? Birthday Party Related
What do you WANT to do? Are you o.k. w/ 2 more people staying in your home? (Think bathroom, sleeping arrangements).
If you are, then sure, tell them you have a full house but they are welcome to crash on an air mattress. THen if they'd rather get a hotel, so be it.
If you don't want the above scenario and would prefer that they don't stay with you, then have your SO call his sister and tell her (nicely, obviously) that you have a full house and won't be able to offer them a place to stay. Does she want a list of local hotels?
Either way, no, yo udon't need to pay for their hotel.
And really - I don't know that I'd set a precedent for cramming people into your home. You may find that it's a pain but then some people will expect it.
Thank you everyone! I really don't want to cram that many people in my house, I think that would be way too uncomfortable for everyone. I already have on queen size air mattress, which will be used by my sister and brother in law and DS's crib will be used by my niece. I talked to SO and he spoke to his sister and will make arrangements for her and his niece to stay in a hotel. Therefore, it's out of my hands and I no longer have to stress about this situation. Thanks everyone!!
