Also, I'd opt for frozen veggies over canned veggies any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
I always go for frozen before canned. It's honestly easier to prepare, in my opinion, anyway.

  • Most cans are lined with BPA.  Tomato or other acid foods leech it out more.  Sometimes you can't avoid using cans, but avoid it when you can.  Fresh and frozen are usually better for you for other reasons too.
  • You can find some canned food marked as BPA free. Muir Glen is a good brand for tomato products. Some of the other brands are slowly moving to BPA free.

  • I would also be concerned with the BPA. Trader Joe's canned foods are BPA free except for their soups. Eden canned beans are also BPA free.

  • No way on veggies, those things are loaded in sodium and have very low nutritional value compared to fresh or frozen. I don't do canned fruit either, fresh is just sho much better and better for you.

I don't eat canned fruit or vegetables, so no I won't give my kids canned fruit and veggies.
