Re: Greek yogurt for LO?

  • I give her the full fat Dannon Oikos it was the only full fat yogurt I could find in the store that wasn't flavored.

I assumed okay, I gave LO the full fat, no flavor added Greek yogurt, can't remember which brand. I think the added protein is a perk!

  • As a BLW there is little I do NOT give- lettuces/raw spinach, raw veggies, hot dogs, whole grapes, whole peanuts. So yes to the Greek yogurt.

I don't mean to thread-jack, but what's the most "exotic"thing you've given your LO while BLW?
  • LOL @crunchymama11‌ that's amazing! I'm not BLW but trying to introduce foods many diff foods to her..

Eggs... All of it or just the whites?

  • For the record, the traditional thought is that only fully cooked egg yolks should be given to babies under 12 months. The egg white or albumen is the part that contains the allergenic protein.

If your family has no history of egg allergies, then you can give the whole egg fully cooked. My LO loves scrambled eggs, but I have also fed him only egg yolks whenever I am eating a boiled egg.

  • I've given scrambled eggs several times. She seems to do well. I mixed yogurt, banana and a little oatmeal today. She seemed to like it. There isn't much I don't give unless it's really spicy. She did well with spaghetti. She sucked it right in (what she could get in her mouth).

  • aaah ! @StefMurph you have given spaghetti already? Mine was eyeing ours so hard the other day and I told him he had to wait a couple more months.

Cool to see that other babies this age have managed it well. In my family spaghetti is kind of a big deal. My brother eats it almost every day! Next time we have it, I'ma test it out on the boy.

  • We don't have egg allergies , but my husband has food allergies ... DD had an allergic reaction to scrambled eggs. In my case we will reintroduce eggs later and when we do it will be the yoke first.

  • @crunchymama11: Good to know! Wait, I think I am going to hold off on the spaghetti adventure till I head to my mom's in a month. That way my brother and mom can be part of that first.

And as for the egg yolk vs egg white:  I think mine does better with the whole egg in all fairness. When I give him egg yolk I severely thin it out with BM and yet I still find it too heavy for him. Whenever I give him scrambled egg to just eat, he never has issues later from it. I did follow tradition and start off with the yolk but do whateva now.

  • I cheated a bit and I did just plain spaghetti. No sauce. She was a champ at sucking up the longer pieces. I did cut up some of mine off of my plate and gave her sauced spaghetti loaded on a spoon a few weeks ago. Not so messy that way.
