Trying to avoid induction help

My due date is tomorrow and one of the midwives scheduled my induction for 41 weeks... I don't want to be induced, I want to avoid it as much as possible.

I need ideas (I already have tried pineapple, eating spicy foods throughout the entire pregnancy, and sex is hard when my husband is deployed). Please help!

If she hasn't arrived by Monday I am going to call to see if I can do a NST instead of inducing as first call at 41 weeks, my BP is fine.

Re: Trying to avoid induction help

  • You don't have to show up for your induction. You can refuse it and wait it out if all is well with your pregnancy. The OWTs are not gonna help any if your body is not ready for labor.

  • I was induced with DS1, and being induced sucks for some. Others progress quickly but then what if you never go into labor? You'll have better luck being induced at 41 weeks rather than 42 weeks. I was induced at 40+5 and DS1 was so big it was hard to push him out. None of the self inducing stuff worked for me.

The crazy thing is that it's a midwife not an OB who is all about this. I am giving this little lady until Monday. Then asking for NST and such. My favorite midwife comes back on Tuesday so I may call her and leave a message for when she gets back.
  • My sister refused and had a NST at 41 weeks and had a perfectly healthy baby boy at 42 weeks.
